I have a document named "Quick Developer Guide for Gear VR_191114.pdf",but there is no Gear VR Service on my Note4,and I don't know how to install it.
The document describe :"Once your update has successfully completed, go to Settings > Applications > Application manager
> Gear VR Service > Manage storage"..
Who can tell me what's wrong with my device or anything more I need to do ??(sorry for poor English)

Retail Note 4's don't have the necessary update yet. You will have to wait for the official launch. Thanks.

I assume you have already the Gear VR unit? I think your Note 4 needs the latest update to work with the Gear VR.

Looks like the Note 4 was rooted/flashed before but would be strange coming directly from Samsung.
You could try installing the update via Kies software for the PC, as over the air doesn't seem to work.
If that also doesnt work, i would contact Samsung again and ask them how to install the update or get another Note 4 which already has the update.

Tks.
We are developing a oculus app on Note4,and we had gotten the devices inluding the the Gear VR and Note4 from samsung of Beijing .They ask us to update "New Note4 binary" named 'New Binary (NK3), and Closed Beta'.then we can not open our app ,alerting "To open this application, insert your device into your Gear VR".we don't know the reason.we think that if we can install Gear VR Service ,then we can see ourt our app in the Oculus app and open it.Now we want to test our app.Do you have any idea?

Not sure, some people who don't have a Gear VR yet but got the latest update XXU1ANK4, could start the Oculus home app. I think some triggered the download process by installing the game Vanguard V from the Play Store.

Or try to update your Note 4 via the Kies software on the PC.

Firmware NK4 has the gear vr manager service you need. Check this site for the firmware http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/. Or since you have an international version, the update should be pushed to Samsung's Kies software, which would update the firmware for you. I do wonder about that message though, I hope the people who enjoy rooting their phone will be able to use gear vr without having to flash back to stock.

He is using a special development version (NK3_VR) which is all set for use with the Gear VR for now.

The message "To open this application, insert your device into your Gear VR" is normal behavior for apps not downloaded from the Oculus Store. You cannot test your apps from inside the Oculus app, you need to launch the app manually.

So when you see that message, just put the phone in the VR headset and the app will launch automatically.

Just as a side note, you can actually run the app on the Note 4 without having a VR Gear. Just change the manifest android:value="vr_only" to android:value="vr_dual" and the message will be gone. You still need to have a valid signature file nevertheless.

The manifest file is located under Plugins/Android folder.
