So...

699€
+ 50€ (Minimum Shipping)
+19% Tax
+ up to 14% customs, depending on how the Rift will be classified.

- XBox Controller? Who doesn´t have already one?
- Headphones? HELL NO! I will rip them out and use one of my 350€ upwards Hifi headphones not some included junk.
- 2 Games that I won´t Play

I am buying the HTC Vive because as an European I feel ripped off and that included junk tipped the scale away from oculus

This was from Palmer Luckey on his twitter

“International Rift prices are not artificially bloated – we have to cover the required taxes, sales tax in USA works differently,”

“All the international prices are essentially the converted US price + required taxes, customs fees, etc"

https://twitter.com/PalmerLuckey

So isn't the total cost as we see at checkout the final price? It seems so.

He's gonna have to prove that, my maths says otherwise. Show us the money! Er, I mean, show us the numbers.

At least you could pre-order Oculus Rift. Austria is not on the list of the privileged countries!!! :?

You could pre-order it! With services like "logoix". They provide a real german post adress with your name and forward in then to you! But of course, that is not for free 😉 don't know how much though...

if it was that simple, there would already be 100 different models and brands...
come on people look further than just the amount... people find it easy to fork out 500 or 600€ for a high end graphics card, but not for something new like this ?

My biggest problem is that it's still a first gen device and I don't want to pay so much when it's already outdated in two years.

If it would be a "CV2" with... let's say 120 FOV, 4k display, Eye Tracking and wirelesse I'd pay up to 800€ I guess because this device would do its job for the next several years... but not CV1.

If I understand correctly, it will be shipped to you from within the EU. It will be allready imported and the custom taxes allready payed by Oculus.

So it's 741. not 1000.

I live in france, I'm on the same boat as you

Are you joking? you are paying 699€ TO OCULUS - do you really think the German Fiskus/Finanzamt will knock on their door and ask for their taxes?
That's exactly how it works.

€741 is the end user price inside the EU. Everything included.
If you are selling products into the EU then you have to show the end price to the customer with everything included before he clicks the "order" button. This is a legal requirement EU-wide for all B2C internet sales. It also applies if the selling company is based ouside of the EU.

to clear things up here,

included VAT taxes means that the item you buy gets pre-taxed but transfered to germany first and then sold to your doorstep directly afterwards so no special taxes apply to you

states which list additional taxes are simply more restrictive in this regard
