Acquired DK1 today, calibration stops halfway, SDK .4.2

Should I use an older SDK version for DK1 Rift?

My headset recognizes the screen and everything appears to be working properly - but when I load demos or begin tests, everything is off center on the x and y axis, the screen is split on the right eye, etc... Calibration freezes halfway through the magnetic cal every time.

Congrats on your DK1!

If you're having all that trouble, my unofficial suggestion is that you could go back and get the 0.3.2 Preview 2 SDK, use the Oculus Config Tool in that to calibrate.

Even then, calibrating the magnetometer sometimes gets "stuck" around halfway in my experience, but really all you have to do is hold your DK1 and rotate it all the way around around every axis, and then it will go from that halfway point to complete all of a sudden.

Hope that helps.

Sounds like you need to put it in portrait mode, too, mebbe..?

Portrait mode is unnecessary in the DK1.

I find it weird that you have problems with the magnetic calibration. I always found it kind of irritating, but finally it would complete after twisting and turning the HMD in every direction known to man.

My DK1 was a bitc4 to calibrate - it took me about 30 tries before it worked. Don't worry, you'll get it eventually; some units just seem to be fussier than others. There's a calibration video kicking around here someone posted that might help.
