But I think you need to add people to home then you can invite them from in game right?

last night this person I met and I could not figure out for the life of us how to add someone in game, so we did it via home then could invite in game.

When you are back in the lobby, look to your left.  Icons with your friends should be floating there and you shoot them to invite them (in D&B).
