Agony: Survival Horror game set in Hell with VR strech goal

Looks like this could be an awesome game in VR.  Though the VR strech goal is almost twice their main goal.  Their main goal is only 66,666 CAD. Can someone really make a good game for such little money?

Yup, it's doable. Looks like they're not calculating staff wages into the cost though, but then we don't know how many people are working on it. I would hazard a guess that the total cost of that would cover office rental and the licencing for the likes of ZBrush, Maya, Substance Designer/Painter etc.

Oh yay, more horror. Just what I need. This should be their tagline:

"Agony: because Dreadhalls shouldn't have a monopoly on inducing ass sweat."

Their use of the Unreal Engine is part of its charm. I know it will look great and work well in VR. They deserve a donation.

If it hasn't got a scary monkey doll in it, that's fine with me!

Like I've previously said on THAT thread, any developer with any sense would use the Unreal Engine over the Unity, CryEngine or Lumberyard Engines for VR applications due to its performance and ease of use. It's the best engine for VR at the moment hands down and will get even better once 4.14 is released thanks to its forward rendering option.

And in the not-too-distant future we'll end up seeing support for the Vulkan API which will be worth its weight in gold for multiplatform titles. And if developers want to make decent money multiplatform is the way to go. The PSVR and whatever the Microsoft VR solution is going to be called are going to be big sellers so at the moment a developer is better off developing for the Rift and Vive via the Steam and Oculus Stores to earn some quick and easy cash RIGHT NOW and then use that cash to port to the other platforms when they can afford to do it (because console development is A LOT more expensive than PC development).

I'm certainly going to be keeping my eye on this one, there aren't enough horror/survival-horror games in VR for my liking, it's part of the reason why I decided to make one myself. 😄

I finished my first ship last night, a Mining Shuttle. Only done 11 models so far and I've uploaded them to SketchFab. Please feel free to have a look, you can select them and then turn them around and zoom in and out to have a proper look. Any constructive criticism will be much appreciated. 😄
