Alternative facial interface pads? Got Asian nose problem.

Em, just received my CV1 today. Hooked it up. Whole setup process took less than 5 minutes. I prefer Rift to Vive for exactly this reason. Nice design.

No real surprise, either the positive or the negative kind. Screen door effect and god ray are there, yeah, but no biggie once things get going and you stop paying painstaking attention to fine details.

What really bugs me is the gap between my nose and the interface pad. I've read reviews saying there should be a little bit of space, but never thought it's this big. Part of the reason might be that being an Asian, the ridge of my nose isn't as tall. With the Rift strapped tightly on, I can still stick a finger into the nose gap, with extra space to spare. This is particularly annoying. As of now I'm coping with it by filling the gap up with a ball of paper tissue. I thought replaceable interface pads were part of the original plan? Can we have that back please?

Talking about the interface pad, it also sort of gets in the way of my prescription spectacles. (Nearsighted, literally can't see shit without them.) I mean, technically I can squeeze my head into the Rift with spectacles on, but it rubs on the interface pad pretty hard on both sides, and every time I take off the Rift, it yanks my spectacles off, because the frame has sunk into the foam and stuck there. I'm pretty sure the pad will take some damage over time.

The frame of my spectacles is like this:

It's basically impossible to get it thinner or smaller without getting contact lenses.

Hmm, my glasses look nearly identical and I have no problem at all with them. Never had the problem of them sticking to the Rift when taking it off and it's nearly as comfortable as with contacts.
Of course I cannot tell the absolute size of yours from the pictures. Mine are exactly 13cm wide (where the temples connect).

Same here, the rims of my glasses are 125mm wide and the bars at my temples are 132mm apart. I can put my CV1 on and off without any issues.

Those glasses look similar in size to mine which as above are 125mm wide approx.

I can place/remove the rift using the 'normal' method and it usually leaves my glasses in place (occasionally they get moved), the bigger issue to the headphones 'grabbing' them.

Don't worry on the nose gap I have a good old British nose which some Jewish heritage and there is a lot of room around my nose. The gap on the rift must be set to clear some big noses!

Mine is 14 cm wide (big head), about 2 mm wider than the face pad opening. Need to sink it into the foam every single time. Will try to manually cut a couple of "glasses grooves" in the face pad if I've got spare ones.

The VR Cover gets rid of the nose gap for me.

You should go with the alternate fitting if not already, fit it over your face then pull the back over. Past that just accept it will steal your glasses each time.

As you say removing/cutting some of the foam could help if you feel brave.

Can't refit the glasses. Big head. This is about the minimum size already. Without spare face pads, I'll probably try to chase the shape of my frame into it by repeated wearing first...

@FrozenPea What's the VR Cover...?

@Chassit, if you have a spare pair of glasses try this:

the blue masking tape stops the blu tack from marking the fabric, doesn't help with the nose gap though!
