You've all seen this by now. Meta has decided to target who gets the Black Friday sale this year, and frankly it's disgusting. I was going to purchase a headset for my friend for his birthday, and after seeing/hearing all this, they've lost my business.
They're clearly trying to pad their margins, while trying to transition the user base over to Meta+ subscriptions. In internal emails, this is called an "experiment," as they're testing to see what the feedback, revenue, and pushback are going to be. Meanwhile, people who buy games once a year on Black Friday, after paying 500 for the headset, are SoL.
I can't think of anything more scummy than targeted price gouging. The fact that it's an experimental 10 percent makes it even worse, as they know they won't have enough complaints to make a dent in their profits, and a few of the users will pay full price anyway. It's just gross all around. It's scummy at best, and illegal at worst, as it's straight up discrimination.
Imagine if it comes up that Meta is only offering coupons to SPECIFIC demographics? It's truly disgusting business practice.

Can you imagine excluding 10% if customers from saving a max of $25 in a single time to then lose their entire lifetime of revenue because they feel singled out and won’t do business with you again? This is the dumbest thing ever. I own 3 headsets and probably 40 app titles. What an absolute slap in the face to not let me get %40 off a single title like the other 90% if users.
