Anyone else skip RE7 because of the lack of VR on PC?

After reading all of the positive reviews of RE7 I've been tempted to buy it, but it's been difficult to pull the trigger because of the missing VR support on PC. I feel like I'd be spoiling the experience for myself playing through for the first time on a flat screen when there is a superior version out there.

If there had been no VR support at all I probably would have bought it already, but now I'll probably wait a year or more for it to be cheap and support VR on PC (if it ever does). In my case at least the  PSVR exclusivity cost them a sale, which seems stupid considering that PSVR and the rift/vive aren't really in direct competition.

Anyone else holding out?

I only played the very first Resident Evil game. So I have skipped out on a lot.

But I do get what you mean. When Obduction was first released for PC, it was a standard flat-monitor release. I refused to buy it until the free VR update went live, because I didn't want to ruin the experience. A decision I do not regret one bit. Obduction VR was fantastic.

However, when it comes to horror-based VR, I think gamers can freely play the flat-screen version before the VR version without really ruining the experience. Horror is an entirely different animal. In fact, even if there was a VR version for PC right now, I'd still probably end up playing most of RE7 on flat-screen.

For example, last night I downloaded the free Oculus Demo, "Don't Knock Twice"

I ended up peaking through the bottom of my Rift and watching my monitor instead of staying immersed. Cause... pee pee pants city.

lol I know.

It does make me feel like a fraud considering I'm such a big fan of FPS and Horror games. However, there is just something about games like Silent Hill, Resident Evil, FEAR, and all the rest that doesn't really keep my attention for very long. I can't explain it.

All I know is that every time I try to play these games, I end up thinking about other games instead. Maybe that's the problem, I am usually addicted to something else. Like an RPG or multiplayer FPS.

Well that's a different issue entirely. It's very possible I wouldn't be able to handle the game in VR, but I want to try it first. Suspense and jump scares are less effective when you know what it going to happen.

I still need to pick up Obduction, but if I had been considering that game on release I would have waited for the VR version there also.

IMO

RE 1 - Old school and just so ahead of its time on PS One even though some people claimed it copied Alone in the Dark.
RE 2 A Classic even with wet behind the ears Leon Kennedy. Two campaigns as well. Great value for money.
RE 3 Nemesis:  Awesome. Jill's own game (one of the best of the old school RE games). Nemesis is a great character. STARRRSZZZ.
RE Code Veronica - good game but dragged on too long and the character Steve is just UGH.
RE 4 - Complete change of pace and style but Leon is really cool in this game and although not regarded by some die hards as a true RE game is regarded by many as one of the best in the series.
RE Remake - a classic with great updated visuals and a real treat to play - a great starting point if you're new to the series.
RE 0 - Some weird gameplay mechanics introduced (player switching) and a story that's a bit meh but not bad, but not essential either. Not sure why Rebecca got her own game tbh.
Resident Evil 5 - Chris on steroids as the white man killing black people in Africa. LOL. Cool game actually with nice visuals. Not everyone's cup of tea.
Resident Evil 6 - Oh dear. Now I loved this game but many felt this was the worst of the entire series. A real divisive game indeed. It was long and had three different character styles to play with. Leon's campaign is the best here.
Resident Evil 7 ...Well you know my thoughts on this already. But Resident Evil in VR is simply awesome sauce. A must play for any VR gamer and or Resident Evil fan. Some die hards not keen on the first person view as some of the older spin off games like Resident Evil Gun Survivor used this view as well.
