Anyone else skip RE7 because of the lack of VR on PC?

After reading all of the positive reviews of RE7 I've been tempted to buy it, but it's been difficult to pull the trigger because of the missing VR support on PC. I feel like I'd be spoiling the experience for myself playing through for the first time on a flat screen when there is a superior version out there.

If there had been no VR support at all I probably would have bought it already, but now I'll probably wait a year or more for it to be cheap and support VR on PC (if it ever does). In my case at least the  PSVR exclusivity cost them a sale, which seems stupid considering that PSVR and the rift/vive aren't really in direct competition.

Anyone else holding out?

Because the jump scares will no-longer be scary once you have played it through.

That's not really true. No matter how many times some people play the Manor, the jump scares still make you jump and scream. Have you actually encountered a jump scare in VR? The fear isn't from the "not knowing," it is from the horror itself being shoved in your face. Even if you can see it coming a mile away... it is still scary when it arrives.

Kind of like jumping out of an airplane multiple times.

There's a ton of wave shooters for VR which all have the same theme one way or another so it's hard to get too excited over more of the same no matter how they are skinned - futuristic, period, zombie apocalypse, etc. RE 7 on the other hand is simply a breath of fresh air in terms of being a 10 hour plus action/adventure experience for VR with high production values throughout. I cannot recommend it enough. Interestingly, there's many people who don't suffer from VR sickness who all say the same thing about the RE 7 VR experience that it's simply way better than 2D. I would go as far as saying it's way better than playing at 4K with HDR Ultra settings on PC because the immersion is unmatched such is the power of VR. I mean, that's why we're all here isn't it so all the negative Nancy comments about "meh I won't play a year old game just because." is a bit silly really. As evidence by the situation we're all in now, finding unique and excellent VR experiences is hard to come by in the ocean of mediocrity and throwaway experiences we've all witnessed. VR gaming has a long way to catch up to 2D and RE7 is the first step on a long and tentative journey.

I cannot agree with that more. In fact, I would say that the opposite is true. Experiencing ridiculously old games in VR would be amazing.

Let me enter Dungeon Master, Eye of the Beholder, and Stonekeep in VR. With the exact same graphics and resolution. It's like a dream come true. To finally visit a world that we could only previously witness through a looking glass.

@Zenbane - I played Outlast that had a lot of jump scares. I then played it again using DK2 and VorpX and it didn't scare me once. I think it depends on the person though, but once I've played through something it doesn't ever get me again. I have done lots of bungee jumps though and it still gets my stomach every time.

Edit: I'm wonder if VorpX might work with Resident Evil 7.

I am a one playthrough kinda guy, I won't buy it until VR is implemented...and on the plus side it will be half the price once it happens

I will consider buying once vr comes to pc. Not buying till then, partly out of principle. Locking features out of pc and exclusive to ps4 in a multiformat title is rubbish.

To each their own however but I have barely bought any non vr titles other than heavily discounted ones in last 12 months..
Fiat Coupe, gone. 350Z gone. Dirty nappies, no sleep & practical transport incoming. Thank goodness for VR 🙂

I was hoping this might fill the void left by Alien isolation.
Disappointed by the wait for PC VR but then as I've been following Oculus for sooo long, waiting is something I'm used too.

Won't touch until PC VR version.

I've played the first couple of hours of RE7, and am impressed with the game so far.  I'm secretly hoping someone will find a hack to allow VR support before it's official around a year from now.  Maybe the code is in the game, but just locked away...

I am a Resident Evil fan first and foremost, so nothing was going to prevent me from playing this day one. That said, I am disappointed in the lack of VR and it is sucks to wait a year. RE7 is amazing by the way!
