There's an audio jack and USB port on DK2.

Apparently sound cards are a no-go mainly due to high latency and lack of direct control (e.g. the sound card adding unwanted filters would mess things up).

Not quite. It's a sync port for the camera, not audio.

Those will probably not work. You need a good pair of stereo headphones. Those are 7.1. Also those are "gaming" headphones which basically means the quality is crap. The built in ones are probably better. Just because there is a blue light coming from them doesn't mean it will sound good.

If you want the best headphones for the buck buy the audio technica AT-50. They sound amazing and you will have to spend A LOT more money to get better sounding headphones than the AT50s.

I have audiotechnica ATH-40, it's rather flat response, I won't agreed this sounds good unless I hope this Leo Vintage helps to bring up the details and to sound more like a concert which I believe we all missed out for 20 years.

and to my surprise a digital waveform is not really a stair-step. Although I wish Oculus CV1 will go complete USB audio, no audio jack to counter competitors or inferior VR HMD from trying to be Oculus compatibles.
