Australian pre-order experience

It's only two days left till the end of my estimate shipping date and they still haven't charged me yet so I'm little concerned about the delay. I know it's only estimate but who wants to wait for few more days after such a long wait !!

Anyway I was hoping if AUS guys can share the pre-order experience here so we have better insight on what's going on.

It is not an assumption, merely a reflection of the fact that there are "issues" with some components like the video cable & possibly the screen. But my point is those faults will not exist (or will become much less) at some point when newer stock gets updated with fixes etc. The problems you mention with customer service have been in part explained by Cyber, to the extent that they are currently swamped by support tickets for a variety of reasons, including those people receiving Rifts with defects and problems with payments.  The ticket system also does not sound like it is the best one in the world but I am sure these guys/gals at Oculus ARE trying their best in the circumstances.

This is just the facts as we know them. Constantly moaning & complaining though does nothing to speed up things and also submitting multiple tickets repeating the same things does not help anything to move quicker, in fact it bogs it down further. It is what it is at this point in time - not ideal but we will get our Rift eventually.  Have a little faith maybe !? 😉

Well obviously they had "issues" but only officially announced one was the "component shortage" so I was just wondering how you came across with the "high defect rate" from that. (if you have connection to Oculus feel free to disclose information :hushed:

I'm not just mentioning about their "individual" customer support. I know they only have limited number of staff (I don't know why though ) to answer the enquiries. But what I meant by "customer communication" is that they should have made more official announcements on what is going on rather than hiding everything and telling us to wait for another month over and over. Not expecting everyday kinda thing but since they announced about the shortage there's been no update on order supplies to customers then suddenly we hear the funny stories from other sources ... that's really faithful aye ?

It might not change anything for now but customers complaints always works for companies to review the performance at later stage. It might not make them process orders quicker but it may make them change their attitude. If you take everything as "it is what it is and we can't do nothing about it" good on ya and good luck on that but I'm not that kind of person so I do try to make improvements and learn from someone else's mistake as I'm learning an online shopping business as well.

I was just about to go to bed but I noticed an email on my phone. It was from an hour ago (2:30am). Woot, rift processing! I checked my suncorp account, it's available amount has dropped nearly a thousand below the current, so it's in the process of being paid for. (Ouch, at current 0.719 exchange rate, CV1 comes to $901au)

I'm a 31 order number in brisbane (pre-ordered 36min in) with an estimate of next week, so looks like it will hit right in the window.

Great News ! It seems Oculus are not using the distribution warehouse at Taren Point in Sydney like they did for Dk2 this time around. Perhaps this is quicker and more cost effective / efficient.
