Bad Wifi Solution?

Okay so my boyfriend has terrible Wifi from his PC to his router and back, with no way to make it wired.

What I was wondering was if there exists any easy to set up, IE plug and play, routers that you can plug into the ethernet port of your PC and it'll throw up a Wifi network with internet access (because the headset will still want it) to make PCVR work well.

Like I figure I could do this with a router and DD-WRT or similar, but I can't actually go there to make it work, so it needs to be as simple as possible. Any advice?

He's got a Quest 3.

Hey, @bujaam!

I think the closest thing to what you're after is the D-Link VR Air Bridge.

It'll create a Wi-Fi network between the PC and Quest but won't do anything for the PC's internet connection so if you're wanting to play anything multiplayer, I'm not sure if it'll be a suitable solution.

If I don't take my foot off the gas, I might miss it all.

Hi Bujamm,

the only router that would work in this way would be a 4/5G router that takes a sim card, as it will still require an internet connection. You could extend your wireless network to reach further, or upgrade the router, and the Wireless card in his computer.

The only other option would be to use a ethernet over power adapter in his home if it is possible.

Hope this helps.
