Buying off a reseller

I see there are lots of people on Ebay reselling CV1.

I don't think it would be wise to buy a CV1 off Ebay two reasons. Obviously the first reason is how much people are asking for CV1 on Ebay (£1,000.00). The second reason is what if something goes wrong with your Rift? As you bought it off a reseller on Ebay you couldn't send it back to oculus yourself. You would have to hope the person who sold you it was still contactable, then you would have to send the Rift to them so they could then send it to oculus.

I agree. I was just reading the terms of sale https://www1.oculus.com/terms-of-sale/ and you only have 5 buisness days from when it is delivered to verify that everything is working correctly and contact the support people at Oculus if there is a problem either with damage in shipping or missing items. After that we are on our own.

Why you agree? Actually his statement is nonsense as Oculus doesnt provide any warranty at all...

I am sure the law in the UK states I have more than 5 days and I do have warranty whatever terms of sale say, are you sure those terms aren't for the dev kits?

But as for reselling, all is lost once you buy second hand legally so I really wouldn't do it.

With that I have a April shipment so I shouldn't have to wait to long.

I'm pretty sure that section 9.2 disclaimer is totally void in the EU, a customer can NOT sign away their consumer rights. This would have been ok on a dev kit but not on a consumer device.

In Reddit AMA Palmer assured users that CV1 will come with a valid warranty.

Doesn't provide any warranty at all? Who gave you that information? I'm sure you will get a 1 year warranty, it's unheard of not to get a warranty.

I only meant that initially examining the CV1 upon arrival can only be done by the original buyer since we only have 5 days. I am unfamiliar with eBay DOA policies. So maybe u can still get a refund from the eBay seller.

I'm more concerned by the strict terms of sale that would seem to apply, assuming the link I found has accurate information.

Sorry, disregard my post. This was an old link that a Google search returned and I assumed it was for the CV1. The real link is https://www.oculus.com/en-us/terms/sale/.
There is a warranty. But it is nontransferable like the OP stated.
