my CV1 is getting so hot, I know sweat after having it on for more than an hour, it also leaves a red mark on my face. This was a replacement headset, the previous headset did not do this. I will be measuring temperatures and updating here soon. surely this is very dangerous, does the oculus have any sort of temperature monitoring for safety purposes, as it is being worn on people's heads, wrapped around their brains.
Your sweating may be symptoms of simulation sickness, perhaps?
I brought my Rift to my Mum's while I stayed for a week and my Step-Father and my best mate down there were both sweating profusely whilst playing Intense-rated games for a couple of hours.
And if you're getting Rift Face then you're wearing the thing too tight.
The rift has (numerous?) temp sensors and the temps are also logged, so if there really is "overheating" going on, Oculus support could tell from looking at the log files. My Rift(s) are all getting warm, but it can't say any of them was ever "overheating". As long as you say this and there is no actual temps given, it could be subjective thing or as someone said, the sweating from motion sickness. This is actually real.
Edit: Don't bother with measuring temperatures, this is relatively useless since no one would be able to tell you what is "normal" based on some measurements someone does. Use the log files so people/support have a reference.
on my gear vr i cut out a around of the pad touching the nose and the hot air goes out from there and it also stops the pinch on my nose. it lets in light too but over time you ignore the light from the nose.
Funny, I don't really get marks on my face after wearing it for long periods.
I have the back triangle slung real low on the back of my head, and the top strap just carries the weight so the foam sits lightly against my face on the top (I keep the bottom open for air to get in, as well as a fan on low blowing at my face)
My rift gets very hot too I just thought it was normal , i have had the same experience as original poster with the red marks on face and sweating, at one time i could only stand to use the Rift for 30 minutes. I do think ambient room temp makes a difference, as there weather here is cooler its not quite as bad but still very hot and uncomfortable.
