Calling all Assetto Corsa players

Okay, so I purchased this the other day, and have a real love/hate relationship with it at the moment.  It seems as buggy as hell, but, when it's doing what it's supposed to be doing it is sublime.  What I wondered was how many of the bugs are common to all VR users, and which ones are unique to my system.  Don't want to go bug-hunting if it's well documented and I just need to lump it.

Right, the main bugs thus far:

1) When I first enter the car, I get a blank, black tile covering up part of the display for the right eye for a second or two, and, because of the focal distance, it really hurts my eyes.  I have now learned to shut my eyes while it displays.

2) If I run a race to it's end, so that I am sat in the car with the menu, if I choose to restart, it places me stood on the track about 10' or so behind my car.  And, weirdly, I can see the virtual menu wrapped around the front of the car.  No amount of adjustment, or pressing F1, or resetting my viewpoint can get me inside the car.

3) If I select a mixed car field, it's a lottery whether or not the game will progress to the grid with my choices.  More often, I hear the PC spool up as if it's about to fire things up, and then nothing.

4) Replays often place me trackside on an unsightly white polygon, or, if it puts me in the stand, I'm floating about 15' above the crowd.  And by god, the crowd graphics are truly awful, but that's neither here nor there.

5) The wheel isn't always recognised as being present.  I have to exit the game, and re-install the Thrustmaster software for things to be dandy.  Not sure if that's a Thrustmaster problem or not.

There are other bugs, but I'm getting tired so will type them up when my pitiful brain shows a bit more willing 🙂

I've experienced 1, 2 and 4, with a slight variation on number 1, where the "black tile" or whatever it is, becomes visible shortly after finishing a race.  Either way, it is certainly uncomfortable.

With 2, i tend to strain my eyes to see where the mouse cursor is and try to press the start button from afar.  It can be done, but it shouldn't really be happening.

With 4, it might actually be that this is how it is supposed to work, but i would prefer to be be able to select a camera myself whilst watching the replay and that white polygon doesn't appear to fulfil any purpose .

Thanks Greyman.  It's reassuring to know that it's not my system that is acting up, regarding the "tile" issue.  Hopefully, Kunos will start to polish the whole VR experience.  Great sim though 🙂

The only time I've seen the "Black Tile" issue is when I have Post-processing selected. Best to leave it off/Un-checked. Game looks a lot clearer with it off.

Thanks for the heads-up.  Not sure if I have that enabled or not.  I'll check when I finish work 🙂

The only issue I've seen is No.1 but, it's very brief.

You might try re-naming your AC folder under Documents, run the Steam Integrity check, reboot, and then start with a new game profile and see if that helps. Something is not right and most of the issues you have are not common with AC.

Perhaps a side note, but do you have any of those issues when running it outside of VR?  I've had pretty much no problems with my setup so far, though I haven't done much aside from hotlaps and just recently the career mode.  Several of those issues seem like they wouldn't necessarily be VR related, but who knows how the softwares could be interacting with each other.

Sounds like a chore. I have the game but I haven't played it in weeks because I prefer to relax and enjoy my spare time.
A: Because it messes up the order in which people normally read text. Q: Why is top-posting such a bad thing? A: Top-posting. Q: What is the most annoying thing on forums?

I have had the issue 1 problem, but switching off the post processing off, seems to have stopped that.

I haven't tried Assetto Corsa flat as yet.  I think maybe I should, and see what's what.  I did turn off Post Processing, and it sort of helped.  The rogue tile still makes it's appearance, but now it's almost opaque, so much less of a stab to the retina.

Had a new bug giving me grief yesterday.  Fired up AC, and loaded my T300RS settings, got onto the track and nothing.  No control input whatsoever.  No axis, or buttons working.  Returned to the menu and checked in the control menu.  Everything was working fine, and all inputs were moving the bars, or lighting up the on-screen buttons.  I could see that everything was mapped as I wanted it.  Retried and still the same.  Came out of AC, and checked the wheel in Windows, and fine.  Back into the game and nothing.  So I re-ran the Control Wizard thing, and lo and behold, it gave me control on the track.  Totally bizarre.
