Can anyone Give a CV1 Vs DK2 FOV Comparison Please?

Hi,

As per the title really. Could anyone that has tried the CV1 comment on whether the Field of View was better or the same as the DK2.

The reason I ask is, I just tried a Freefly VR Cardboard Headset, whilst Tracking is always going to be an issue with Mobile Phones, the Field of View was bigger than the DK2 and it made a huge difference. Now I know their has been thread upon thread on the FOV, and I don't want this thread to grow into 19 pages or arguing and technical jargon about fov measurements etc, just want an opinion from a user who doesn't where Glasses to say, Yep, Tried CV1 and:

1) It is Vastly improved over the DK2
2) There was an improvement, but it was hard to notice
2) It's about the Same or I couldn't tell the difference

If I could just get a feel from a couple of users, would appreciate it.

To give you an example, on this Freefly I tried, I had no goggle effect at the top or bottom. I could just make out the right hand side and left hand side edge of the Screen and it made a massive difference.

Ask Malkmus1979 directly to avoid this tired thread all over again.
Not a Rift fanboi. Not a Vive fanboi. I'm a VR fanboi. Get it straight.

Very good question.
Apparently they are about the same.
Nowhere as good as your experience with the freefly unit as far as FOV but possibly better (just a tiny bit) than the DK2.
Thats all we really know at the moment.
Things are very quiet CV1 wise.

Others may have more specific facts 🙂
Lots of differing opinions on this.

cheap FOV is NOT true VR.

Say what you want about the tradeoffs, current hardware being unable to do it properly, etc. But with a narrow FOV, you are simulating reality with a helmet on. You are not simulating true reality.

They talk more about FOV compared to DK2 in another video but I can't find it at the moment.

So very true.
Not being able to see the sides of the old goggles at all would help even at a lo FOV. But there we be at the moment 🙂
Still, I feel your obvious pain.
Maybe by 2030 we'll be laughin' ??

Nice links too 😛
