For facial interface I guess moist lint free rag, microfibre would be ideal, is good. I wouldn't use soap though, or you'll have to use quite more water than just "moist" to wash it out. I wouldn't use anything acid or alcoholic too. And most of all, I would get it out of the rift before I try to clean it!!!
Of course, I use vr cover to just prevent it at all; I hope for the v2 to be a bit more reliable, like the one for the dk2 was.

I'd use the little cloth wiper than came with the oculus and not a towel. Put a tiny amount of water or glass/window-cleaning solution on it and wipe the lenses carefully 🙂

DO NOT PUT ANY LIQUID ON THE LENSES! ...... sorry for shouting but I cannot stress it enough. Water unless purified has many impurities in it, it can cause buildups. Many window cleaners contain vinegar which is a no no.
The plastic is very fragile, those are not glass.

ok so i'm getting confused. I don't mean cleaning the frensnel lenses. I mean the outside plastic part that goes over your eyes. I can't wash that with a moist towel?

The little product manual that came with the Rift says "please use only dry optical lens microfiber cloth for cleaning of the headset lenses and sensor. Do not clean lenses or sensor with any liquid or chemical cleansers. Do not clean the facial interface foam with alcohol or other abrasive cleaning solution. For cleaning of the straps and facial interface, use only non-abrasive  antibacterial wipes and wipe gently."

Sorry i'm stupid for not being clear. i meant the facial interface. The thing that sticks out like goggles. They all say that's just plastic so can't i use a moist towel for that? and then dry it nicely?  What are rhese nonabrasive antibacterial wipes anyways where do you get them?

I also heard /read to clean the lenses you use "dry optical lens micro-fiber cloths". What are those and where do you get them?    The only micro-fiber material i've heard about is underwear. So i dont know exactly where to get microfiber cloths

I'm guessing it's okay to clean the outer plastic parts with a soft cloth slightly dampened with water, as long as you don't get any on the lenses. I've seen antibacterial wipes at CVS, Walgreens and the grocery store. Read the ingredients list to make sure they don't contain alcohol. One micro fiber cloth came with my Rift. I assume it's the same as cloths used for eyeglasses.
