Cannot Install this Damn Thing. 6 Damn Hours Later. If anyone can help, I'll really appreciate it.

This is literally the biggest piece of crap I've ever seen. How they advertise this as a ready for primetime product is beyond me.

I've attached my error log here. The problem seems to be at Code 28. [Error] [1/15/2017 7:06:15 PM] Librarian exited code 28

DOES ANYONE KNOW WHAT THIS ERROR MEANS? Googling around, it seems like a driver issue. I already updated all my drivers and paid $25 for another piece of software to do so.

Thank you for your help if you can.

Have you tried running it with "Kaspersky Endpoint Security" program disabled or uninstalled?  I found that anti-virus programs to be the major cause of MANY programs failing to install.

interesting they use  '\\?\C:\Program Files\Oculus\Support'.

Vanfanel - I tried that. It doesn't seem to be stopping at Kaspersky in any case. It's this 'code 28' issue. Any idea for what that is?

Are you installing as admin?

Nah - that's Windows' internal representation of the filesystem, sometimes leaks out in logfiles and registry settings. It's not indicative of anything particular here.

Error 28 I'll leave for Oculus support staff - "Librarian exited code 28" is a single hit on Google, so it's not a common problem. Apart from the two vanfanel and Wlf already made, the only other thing I'd try is running a disk check on the drive you're installing to.

Oh, anon6767 - be aware that the games will install into the same folder as you choose for Home to install to, so if you wanted them on a different hard drive then you should choose that. It's annoying to move them after.

Oh, huh - you bought a driver updating app? That's unlikely to be good news - please name it so we can comment, as many of them are nothing more than spamware and advertising vectors.

try installing on a different PC if you have one. At least you'll know where the problem is. If it still points to your PC reinstall OS. Everyone wants to blame Oculus for every install problem.

Damn, that sucks. Mine installed without a single issue so in my case, it is clearly ready for prime time.
