Cannot use the Rift Headphones and Rift Microphone together in skype
If i try this ALL sound will be muted on my PC (Win 10)
Here's the extra weird bit, if I got to windows sound settings and click on "playback" devices I can hear sound and the rift is set to default.
If i click on the "recording" devices tab at the top all sound disappears even though rift is set to default microphone doesn't matter what is set to default here, no audio.
I can use my logitech g930 mic around y neck while using the rift headphones but I would like to use the rift by itself for headphones and mic.
I have already tried re-installing all drivers, haven't done a full rift software install again yet..............  😞
Does anyone have any suggestions, it's got me stumped?

Have you tried re-installing skype? I use both from my rift for skype and sometimes change it to the tv I use as a monitor or my webcam, haven't had a problem here, hope you can figure it out or someone can else can throw out a different solution.

Thanks, will try re-installing skype and the Oculus software but the thing that throws me off is that the sound issue is not just within skype

Remember that Skype has its own configuration for what sound devices it uses for playback and recording.  Don't expect it to automatically use what's set as active in Windows.

SOLVED:

Ok i managed to solve my own issue.
I previously tried very rear USB 3 port on my PC for the sensor and it made no difference to the skype issue but tonight thought I'd try moving the sensor to a front USB 3 port and I can now use Skype for both the mic and headphones.
Currently not sure what brand the front USB ports are as I have Intel and Asmedia on my motherboard.

People can hear you well when your using the mic on skype?

as long as the headset is on yes, it starts getting muffled over 2+ feet.
