Hi guys 🙂
Some new news from Meta that seems to have gone under the Radar. Meta has changed the app referral scheme. Discount has dropped from 25% to 15%.
The referee' now receives £1 - £4 depending on price (most are either £1 or £2 here in the UK), they also need to be friends / following each other.
I can't see the scheme being anywhere near as popular now but maybe that's the point.
It's a bit of a shame as I think you were more willing to take a punt on a game or 2 that you may never have considered with your own money. Made searching for new experiences a little more fun
What do you guys think?

I'm not surprised tbh. A lot of people have been treating it as a global discount service rather than a friends and family referral that it was intended. Posting referral codes on everything from reviews to forums. If you look at the AVFORUMS VR site for example, there's a thread where people are posting pages and pages of referral links.
I mentioned in one of the other threads that Meta likely wouldn't see it as sustainable if that carried on but some people seemed to have become entitled to having it and annoyed when they had it disabled from their account. Now we're kind of all affected as a result. I suppose we're lucky it's still there at the reduced amount... and the headset referral program.
Sorry, mini rant over.

Say "Thanks" to everyone who thought this was a way to make money.
I expected something like this too... I was just surprised Meta let it run for this long.
That you have to be follower/friend for using the app referral now is a good way to avoid those reverral postings everywhere...... I remember there was a time that you even have to be friend on Facebook to use the device referral.

They should have communicated this to us beforehand, especially those where referalls just flat out wouldn't work. At least this is sustainable I guess....however, also click on the T&Cs of the referral, even within the app - they still say you will get a 25% discount /£4 referral which seems very unprofessional to me, if not illegal to offer one thing and give another

It's written in the info about app referrals.......but I agree, they have to change it in the terms and conditions too.

Looks like they've only just updated that page 5minutes ago, but my own page, and the first google results for me still take to the original 25% discount information and £4 credit still.
Main issue where its worst IMO is for new users, people who buy headsets based on info they find online, and if Metas own pages are still saying they get x and y then they should get x and y. They cant see what is on the app until they have set up their accounts and registered their devices etc. There has already been several in another big thread over the past few month that newly bought headsets, and were unable to redeem any offers etc and now have this (with fobbed off incorrect copy and paste messages from CS)
