Ahh okay.. well is good to know 🙂 Does this qualify as extreme? http://imgur.com/oVhXhq9 That is really the other half of my investigation, trying to find the baseline for what is considered normal vs extreme.

In extreme cases, it can be a panel defect needing a replacement. However, there is some small amount of color banding due to the way the video signal is processed. It's usually only noticeable it heavily dark scenes, and most of the time it will look fine and not be an issue.

Yeah, my images from above were from the Oculus Video (Cinema) app - I've read about the Elite Dangerous fix.. they just applied dithering. I was kind of hoping if anyone reading the thread had the time to go into Oculus Video and take a similar shot in the Moon theater. I mean I'm pretty sure at this point it's def. just an issue with particular apps/games that aren't up to spec, I think if anything, reading vague posts about people not having issues "at all" just gave me a bit of pause and confusion.

I'd look up "test images" on google from virtual desktop, especially gray scale, gamma etc...and not judging by games. You never know how poor a game engine renders. You need a reference so you know how it's supposed to look. I'd otherwise have given the tip with setting output color range to "full" but you said you did that already...hmmm..
