Confirmed working PCIe type-C cards for Quest 2

Are there any that are Gen 1 PCIe slots with the same output?

This would work but it's only 10Watts max

Considering the official Quest 2 charger provides 10 watt output 5V/2A. Any card with a 15 watt or more source it will allow the headset to be used and charge at the same time or discharge slower. The Meta Quest 3 charger which is 18 watt is backwards compatible with the Meta Quest 2.

The USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 expansion cards numbered 1, 2, 4, 5 and 6 are confirmed to work with the Quest 2 by reviewers of the card. The rest have the capabilities to support the Quest 2+ but are unconfirmed.

USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 Expansion Cards

1. StarTech 1-Port USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 PCIe Card

This one does 15 watt output 5V/3A. It's a USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 on PCI-E 3.0 x 4. It is backwards compatible with 3.2 Gen 1. It has a single port.

Reviewers say they had to change the “Thunderbolt Host Chipset” to “Maple Ridge” in the BIOS for the adapter to work.

Problem is, My slots are PCIe 1x, Gen 3, which will only transfer 1Gbs tops. So even if I put in any of these cards, it's a bottle neck. I returned the Quest 3. I'm either going with another brand, or maybe next time Meta will put more ports on their headsets to make things more versatile. I don't understand why they didn't add an HDMI or DP port for backward compatibility. The steam Index does.

This is for others that have the same problem.  In PCI-E 3.0 It is 1 (0.985) gigabits per second per lane. Multiplied by number of lanes available (16 lanes) = 16 (15.754) gbps. This doubles for the next generation. 8 gigatransfers x 16 = 128 gigatransfer per second.

Oculus Link requires a minimum of USB 3.0/3.1 Gen 1 speeds at 5gbps and your system will meet that criteria with PCI-E 3.0.

It can work up to 10gbps with USB 3.1 Gen 2 but may not reach the full speeds because those lanes will be shared with your dedicated graphics cards and other devices that share these lanes.

I ran the Quest 3 with 3.0 ports. It was choppy. There's too much overhead with older 3.0 and even 3.1 ports. Unless you're on a newer USB-C board, the older chip-sets are not optimized for consistent video throughput. There's a reason why every other VR manufacture uses HDMI, and DP ports still. Because 90 percent of people don't have a new computer with a dedicated USB-C controller built into the chip set. It was bad business decision to only add a C port. I wanted to keep it, but returned it because of the hassle of having to go out and buy cables and expansion cards for the ridiculous charging issues, and not knowing if these accessories were even going to work. If I'm spending $600+ It should have what it needs.

The other thing that was surprising was, the eye screen did not have very good peripheral vision. When I first put on the headset, it looked like I was looking through binoculars. I expected a wider area of display that would allow my peripheral vision to see more image rather than black edges.

If Meta comes out with a Quest 3 with DP, or HDMI, I'll drop the cash again. But I'm not in the market to built an entirely new PC when mine plays every game I throw at it with ease.

Does the ASUS USB4 card really work for you? It uses ASMedia ASM4242 controller which I have on my board (Asus X870-I Gaming WiFi) and it constantly reconnects so fast I even can't do anything. Of course support is clueless and can't find a solution...
However I'm using Quest 3 not 2
