Consumer Rift Pre-Order MEGA-THREAD

Grand Champion
So the same questions keep coming up, so I figured this would be a good idea (thanks @CardinalStorm!).

This will be a place for common questions and answers. If you have a unique issue, please feel free to make your own thread, but I will try to grab all the common stuff and add it here.

- Check the History Page to See if your Order Was Successful

If you are not sure if your order went through, please check the history page for the shop.
https://shop.oculus.com/history
Sign in if you ordered with your account, or choose guest if you ordered as a guest.
If you ordered as a guest and don't remember the order number, please check the confirmation email.

- Obtain Your Confirmation Email
If you did not receive your confirmation email, please go to this page and enter your email address.
https://shop.oculus.com/en-us/order-verification/

- Total Price Showing as "--" or "$0.00"
This issue has been solved. If you check your history page now it should show the full price.

- Problems Changing Addresses for Asian Orders
Some Asian customers have had problems updating their address due to a bug on our side. If you were affected by this, you may have had your address automatically changed to something incorrect. This feature is now disabled, so feel free to change your address now.

- Confusion over Currency in Some Regions
Australian order are actually quoted a price in USD. Sorry for the confusion.

- Updated Shipping Estimates
The estimated shipping time should be around the date that was shown when you pr-ordered. Unfortunately, this date is calculated dynamically, and is not actually stored in the database or on your order anywhere. So Oculus Support agents will not be able to tell you the estimated shipping time if you forgot or didn't see it. At a later day we may come up with a way to give more accurate estimates, but this is to be determined at this point.

- Touch Pre-Order Reservations
Anyone that has a successful Oculus Rift pre-order will be given a reservation for Touch. It won't matter if the page had an error in that section, we will honor the reservation.

- When Does Shipping Start
Oculus Rift pre-orders will begin shipping starting on March 28th, 2016.

- Entering Your VAT Number to Remove VAT in EU
No, we don't support removing VAT from the order.

Yes I just did, they thought I preordered at January 6th, 4:15 P.M. when I preordered within the same hour when preorders launched... :disappointed:

What time zone? If that's the number you got directly from the unix time conversion, then it would put you at 8:15am PST time, aka, 15 minutes after pre-orders opened.

Yes it was 8:15 AM PST. Exactly what you said. There was still no shipping or tracking email sent though...

You should have your place in queue reserved correctly. You're fine bud!  😄

Good, I was afraid of bad things, but thanks for helping me with the issue.

Guys, I just wanted to let you know an update about how my preorder is doing...
First, Still no shipping or tracking email... Second, I'm afraid my order will arrive in mid-April even though I actually ordered super early (I'll explain this later)... Third, if I receive the Rift about twenty days later, I will be disappointed...
The reason I'm kind of disappointed right now is because I remember that I actually confirmed the order at least five to ten minutes twice, with it not correcting, after preorders launched. Lets just say the preorders page wasn't working in the first five minutes only to be accessed by scalpers... Then, the page was working. But errors, including pages not loading or confirming were a problem, including me actually entering the information and confirming the preorder TWICE with the page freezing and me having to refresh the page again... Until it finally worked, but I didn't receive a order confirmation email or anything until January 15th, where I had to request the email... I know you people may not believe me, but I probably was the unluckeyest (pun intended) person ever trying to preorder... AKA: I got hit by internet issues, over and over again, in fact now, I feel like cancelling and not getting anything due to the issues. I'm also boycotting Oculus and selling my DK1 if the CV1 never arrives, VR is not the future if you keep limiting your hardware with exclusive titles that can't run on different hardware, in fact when I'm a developer I might make my own solution. It's also not the future if your hardware doesn't get released on time for everyone just like the Nintendo Wii, even though it had some shortages there was still more of them... Releasing very fast. It's not the future when it's expensive and people are OK with it, I mean the DK1 was originally $300 but with the CV1 twice as much as that and other headsets following, hell no... You ruined VR being cheap for everyone because of Facebook... I mean this doesn't count the Gear VR, but it kind of counts because you still need a $700 phone without a contract to run it... I'm boycotting Oculus, I hate their changes to their way of things and pricing of products, in fact Palmer may have said $350 because that would have been his original price until Facebook screwed everything up... I'm done, goodbye...

Sorry for wall of text, I was really angry typing this... :rage:

Ok are you calm now?

Selling a DK1 sure go ahead, its worth what now? And you can't do much with it these days anyway. What I got from your rant is that you are more angry about the price then anything else...And you blame Facebook...well what I can tell you is that if it was not for the money Facebook brought in, your CV1 would have been the DK2 and yes it was 350$...I don't use Facebook, I don't care about Facebook but I love the Facebook money, if it wasn't for this money CV1 wouldn't be what it is, and probably the VIVE would still be stuck at DK1 as...Innovation cost money.

And you said you ordered super early? What was your estimate month at checkout? Just chill out take a deep breath, sun is shining, snow is melting, birds are singing 🙂 I am sure next week everything will be sorted out

Sorry, March when I tried confirming it and failed. April, when I finally confirmed it... :confounded: I'm very sorry...
EDIT: Also, the reason why I was disappointed was the website errors, they thought I ordered at 8:15 AM at preorder time but really I had to reenter information twice just to preorder it...

Even if you got April...with all the people who supposedly cancelled their preorder, I wouldn't be too worried about getting it late...it can only improve...anyway my advice is to wait next week, before doing anything you might regret. Could the pre-orders have gone better? Heck yeah! Could the launch be going better? Sure thing. But we are so close to the finish line, why drop the race now, worst case scenario, just sell your CV1 if you are not happy with it.

Alright, thank you for helping me feel better and I will keep on waiting, but the wait is killing me, so maybe I'll try listening to music to pass time and calm myself even more. 🙂

New poster so please be gentle....
1.). You could order a Rift with a guest account or a log-in account. Have any guest orders received the 1-3 week e-mail?  I ordered as guest and my friend as a registered user and I got no e-mail.  Just a hunch (He is a 23 and I a 26 though blasted slow work Internet..)

2.) Looks like kicker starters are getting theirs 1st, understandable.  But has anyone determined or seen anything or how everyone else is getting theirs?  Is order number your place in line or does it seem to have more do to with distance from the Distribution center (Kentucky)?  Perhaps people living further would get shipping confirmation sooner sine their product might take longer to get based on logistics?

3.) Is it Monday yet???

Many of us had problems getting our orders through. I was refreshing the site from 5 minutes before orders went live. It took me well over 10 minutes to get my order to go through. I had to close the page and start from scratch several times. Good thing I'm a fast typist! I too had a March slot, but that's not going to happen and yes, i'm disappointed, but s**t happens. The advantage of not being in the first batch is that we'll get to see unboxings and reviews and, if we don't like what we see/hear, we can always cancel.

I don't think we can blame Oculus too much for the website issues on 6th January. They had no real idea what to expect. They're not revealing numbers, but it's pretty obvious they had tens of thousands of pre-orders in the first few minutes. I doubt they anticipated a response like that.

As for the pricing, I was never in a million years expecting anything in the ballpark of $350. I'm in the UK and was expecting around £500 here.

How Oculus have handled things since the pre-orders? Yeah, farcical at best. But there's little point complaining more now when it's quite obvious they're not going to tell us anything more. As has been mentioned above, the wait is pretty much over now. Oculus picked a bad weekend for launch - most countries celebrate Easter  - but I'd anticipate a LOT of shippings starting early next week, and I'm hopeful that those of us in the second batch of shippings will have our Rifts a week or two into April.

@Sarlin

1. Doubt being a guest matters. For those of us that had prior DKs, checkout was much faster though. For example, I already had an account with all my billing info set up prior to the presale day, meaning I just had to sign in and click like 3 buttons. I had my order in within 30 seconds of the store page loading and I still only got a 23xxxx spot.

2. Yes the orders are being fulfilled in order of order number. So sadly you will most likely get yours after your friend. How much later is uncertain, it just depends on how big each batch is they are shipping. That's just how this kind of this goes. Supply and demand...

3. ALMOOOOOOOOST!
