I don't think this has been posted here yet... Vorpx have released a VR mod for Cyberpunk.
I don't know much about it yet but am checking things out. It appears to be a mod by Vorpx that doesn't require Vorpx!
Someone with Cyberpunk care to try it out?
The game would be an instant buy if this is works well.
Edit: given that it's half price right now, I went ahead and bought it. I won't have a chance to test this out until after Christmas so I'd welcome anyone's review of how this performs, hopefully something to look forward to!!

I've read about it and have the game but haven't found the time to try it out yet. I'll try to find time to try it out or look forward to your review if you get to it before me.

Maybe I'm missing something, but Vorpx has never done anything for me. VR without hand tracking is just like having a curved monitor, but with a massive performance hit.

For some games that might be ok. One of my favourite VR experiences is Subnautica, and it has no controller tracking. Or Elite Dangerous, no controller tracking there either.
Although I don't use Vorpx myself, I stick to games with built in VR (when doing VR that is, I still play non vr stuff).

I'll be able to test it next week. If it comes to the worse, it's a good enough game to play on monitor (at least the PC version is apparently).. I still play stuff on monitor too, so not quite a VR fascist just yet, but for first person shooters, I'm half way there!
Really hope it's OK in VR, will post a review next week.

Games that don't support what they call direct VR, give a bad impression of what it's capable of IMO. Not as many good working profiles, many games that don't have a direct VR profile can often be made better by creating a new profile using an existing profile with the same engine. Games that support direct VR, look and play like most VR mods.

I'm fine with mods when done by the devs - even Skyrim and FallOut 4 may be considered mods in this perspective.
But mods made by fans may be quite a lot different - also there's this one (fan made):

GTA 5 also has a fan-made mod, but my backlog is way too long, so fan-made mods need to get really sky-high reviews before I'd consider jumping in.
Cyberpunk is already very demanding in 2D, not sure it's a great choice for VR (may be kinda the worst choice I can think of, lol), but maybe if all ray-tracing is deactivated and DLSS used...

Opinions are great but would be nice if someone tried this out and left a review... if I don't beat everyone to it.
Graphically, most PC games have enough range and flexibility in their settings to accommodate a pretty wide range of hardware and that may include VR.
Looking at reviews of regular Vorpx use with the game before this stand-alone mod was released suggest it's well optimised and performs well with player's default monitor settings, without downgrading anything, I would take that with a pinch of salt but still, I haven't found a negative review yet regarding performance. This isn't the regular Vorpx though but I'm guessing it's likely to be the same deal.
If the only downside is no VR controller support, that wouldn't be enough to stop me having fun with this. Stereo views from the perspective of being inside the game is a good move. If it does feel good it may nudge me towards trying out Halo and a couple other games that are reported as performing well.
Anyway, as I say, first hand reviews please 🙂

I got the VR mod to load once using my G2, but it was not full screen VR at first even though it was selected as. Once I cycled through the different VR modes, it went to full screen for a few seconds then went grey. I tried several attempts and it never launched again. The VR mod looked great for those few seconds.
Then tried standard Vorpx mode. It works but the 3D is all screwy, unplayable like that to me.
I'll try with Oculus...
Edit: same results with Oculus here after reapplying the patch for Oculus. The game will not load with VR mod installed, just a crash report dialogue. Not ready for VR here. Not really a game I think I'd enjoy anyway

Hey thanks for trying it out @ohgrant I won't get my hopes up.
I'll maybe be able to add my test results on Tuesday.
