Hey guys, Just wondering what you guys are doing to store/protect the DK2 when not in use? I've got mine still sitting in the cardboard box it came in (too bad it wasnt as fancy as the DK1 box!) so a bit paranoid about it; especially scratching the lenses.
I've been looking into it and people have recommended the Pelican 1400 case but it's a bit pricey at around AUD$160 :?
For some reason I haven't yet worked out my DK2 just sits on top of my PC and never gets put away. Probably has something to do with me needing to plug it in around the back rather than just the front (I used to trail cables to the box for DK1 whereas DK2 has no box so requires direct wiring each time).
For dusting I just use an air blaster. Micofibre cloth (from Dk1) for lenses.

I store my DK1 in the DK2 cardboard box, and left the DK1 lunchbox available for the DK2 if I ever decide to pack it to go somewhere. Usually my DK2 is always plugged in to the PC since I use it frequently. I have the camera mounted high on the wall (near where the wall and ceiling meet).
For the lenses, I still have the original clear plastic film they arrived with on the lenses (though I have rubbed them smooth against the lenses to remove trapped air bubbles between them).
There's a few threads about protecting lenses. They're extremely scratchable and difficult to replace. The most popular protection is something called "40mm Savvies". I haven't looked into it beyond that.
My Rift sits on a shelf right next to me for quick access. It's never unplugged from the computer. I asked Palmer to send me a DK1 case for Christmas. That selfish bastard didn't even respond to my post. 🙂
