I just received my DK2 and after doing all the installation was to test the demo scene included in the configuration utility but without success. If I select the Display Mode Direct HMD scene starts in a window but the DK2 continues off with the orange light on. If you change the Display Mode to Extended, the DK2 starts lighting the blue light but the image in DK2 stands aside while the pc this the right way. Please does anyone know what should I do to get my DK2 use correctly?
Direct to HMD mode is finnicky. If it doesnt work, whatever program you're using doesnt support it. Or the program does support it, and you just need to restart the app, the Rift service or your PC a few times. I had this issue last night.
As for the Rift being sideways when in Extended mode, just go to your desktop, right click > Screen resolution. On there, you can rotate your Rift screen.
In extended mode, I found that you could just take a windowed Rift program and position it properly on your Rift and it'll work fine that way too.
Get & install this http://defaultprogramseditor.com/ and try to right click/open on oculus rift on the demo's exe file . If still having trouble with certain demo's set rift as primary display usually does the trick .
Open the desk demo in extended mode, if it doesn't work, make your rift the primary monitor and everything should be okay. Also make sure that your dk2 firmware is up to date as well as the runtime (which I guess is updated to the latest since you just got your dk2)
