!DK2 SUPPORTED IN OCULUS HOME!

VizionVR

A dev posting on r/Oculus has just confirmed that he was able to not only access Oculus Home with his DK2, but downloaded Henry and Lost using the DK2.

The dev went on to state that he's using a beta version of the software. It's still unknown if the final version of the software will remove or continue support for DK2s, but for now it definitely works.

That would be great news for many 🙂

Practically every week we see someone ask if DK2 will be supported, will it run SDK 1.0 etc.
It would also generate some nice revenue for devs that were working on big launch titles.

But since it's all beta, we can't be sure for certain. I'm pretty sure that particular dev broke his NDA btw

This is good news and hopefully will continue to work.
My DK2 needs to live on until I recommit to a headset purchase!

I will say it working and being supported can be 2 different things.

Dev claims NDA was never brought up. They didn't go into great detail, but this seems like it could be a step in the right direction.

I really really really hope this stays true. I'd love to buy the games on launch day and give them a shot. I don't see why the DK2 couldn't play the game pad games.

I would love to be able to tinker with new VR stuff on launch day while awaiting the delivery of CV1. Mind you this wasn't news to me, mainly because I was (mistakenly, apparently) already under the impression that the DK2 would work just fine... oh well, at least this backs that belief up to a certain extent

Isn't it actually kinda essential that the DK2 will work with SDK 1.0? There will still be people developing with it for a while that might not have CV1 yet, maybe living in countries where it won't even be available anytime soon.

Well it proves it can be supported, so there's no need to spite people by stopping support for it. DK2 wasn't actually a cheap purchase, so you would expect it to still have a life given people were still purchasing it 5 months ago.

I'm still curious why we havn't had any information about DK2 though, or is there an NDA on DK2 that they can't give use information about?

This is very true and exactly why I posted this topic. Topics like these make the community aware that it's possible. So IF Oculus decides to nerf DK2 for Oculus Home at launch we'll all be aware of it.
