DK2 - seeing pixels

hi everyone,

when i'm using the rift, i can literally see the pixels on the screen, especially
when looking at objects that are far away from me (a distant turn in a racing
track, for example).

this makes it hard to distinguish what an object is when it's too far from me,
as it's a bunch of pixels that do not really form a clear image.

is there any way around this or is it like that for everyone? i'm using the A
set of lenses and have already configured the eye relief settings through the
config tool.

i tried to search for this but couldn't find anything that answered my question.

thanks in advance for any help!

Pixels are clearly visible on the DK2, but should be relatively small. Its a bit like playing a PC game at 800x600 but with a huge field of view. Is that what you're describing?

The only way around it is to wait for CV1 😉 the screen door effect should be eliminated there.

1080p sounds great on paper, but on the rift you are basically getting half the resolution and you are looking at the screen with a magnifying glass. So yeah you can see pixels. No real way around it. Coming from a DK1 I am actually impressed the resolution looks as good as it does.

For people who have never used DK1 it seems the first the thing they notice is the really low resolution. That is likely going to be a problem until the screens hit 4k and beyond. Even at 4K I believe people have stated that mathematically we still won't have the fidelity of a 1080p monitor scene from a normal viewing distance.

VR is really unforgiving at standard HD resolutions. All I can say is just know that CV1 will improve this. Whether it will be good enough to make most people happy remains to be scene.

sorry, i don't get it.

to me, everything in most apps seem and feel very accurate (3d, positional tracking etc).

what are you referring to when you say "simulation"?
