Developer Showcase - Farlands

For this week's Developer Showcase we're taking a look at Farlands and the team that created it. Farlands comes to us from an Oculus team out of Seattle that's been developing a lot of different VR experiences that you might already be familiar with, such as Dreamdeck. We're very fortunate to have a chance to take a look at the Farlands game, talk with the developers, and learn more about the experience they've created.

What is Farlands?
Farlands is a tiny alien world that comes with your Rift. It’s a new kind of VR experience created by Oculus that’s built with Epic’s UE4 and designed for Rift.

Farlands lets players visit a vibrant, otherworldly planet, teeming with exotic life. Explore fantastic landscapes; discover bugs, fish, and plant-life; and build relationships with the alien creatures – all in real time. Each day brings you a new opportunity to discover creatures and explore their habitats.

I love Farlands, it's such a great looking experience, with easy to pick
up controls, and fun gameplay when interacting with the aliens. There's
so much detail in the world and the creatures, sometimes leading to
little secrets that you weren't expecting.

man I've been waiting for this one, love Farlands! Seriously under hyped game!

Sorry I have two questions, hope that's alright:
- Do you plan on expanding on the game soonish, as a lot of us are already on Level 10 and it does feel like the game has hit a bit of a dead end pretty quickly. However I am still playing it but having some more progress to get through would be great. Even something like a currency so you can buy things, build something etc just so it adds something else to keep you going!

- Will you add a camera feature so we can save photos at a good resolution? 500x500 isn't good enough  :#

@VirtuaJulian  Please don't tell me this is another giveaway locked to the US otherwise I might cry.

P.S. Thanks to the whole team for a great game, especially since it was free!

The only change I want from this experience is the floating robot to sound like tic toc from Return to Oz and this game would be 100% great.

I beat this game last week, it was great!

My question: Could we ever see the possibility of raising new creatures, similar to the way we can grow our own plants?

The beginning tutorial was way too slow and bored the heck out of me.  I guess it sounds like it's worth struggling through or is there a skip feature to speed things up?

Woah you must have a really short attention span 😛 I'd recommend it man but it's not fast paced at all but that's why it's so good, you can just chill out in these amazing alien worlds, learn about the aliens there etc.

Since Farlands was developed by an internal Oculus team, this week's merch is Oculus themed. If you make any Farlands merch, could you send some my way too? Of course, if your home made merch is not available in the US, that's cool, I'll understand :).

I'd love to see more content for Farlands; New areas, new creatures to meet, and additional methods of interaction for the existing ones (IE new toys and whatnot).  Maybe even some sort of mini-games to play with the creatures?

I'd gladly pay for that, in the form of an expansion or DLC?  Is anything like that already in consideration?
It's hard being the voice of reason when you're surrounded by unreasonable people.
