Developers, what now?

The last time I was in this forum, there were many proud developers, keen to code for OR. But since the FB acquisition, it seems that those developers were shown that finger, which is longer than the other fingers.

Developers who wasted time and effort on coding for OR, do they deserve compensation from FB?

With FB acquisition, is OR really going to be for games or for some FB feature where its all about chatting and other bs that only FB-addicts care about?

Finally, Oculus Rift, which is nothing but a screen and two lenses, does it really deserve the hype?

This is from the same guy trying to talk up the Glyph as being better for VR than the Rift. It's like he's a Avegant shill or something.

So, what do you think, OR is some unique propriety technology?

There is an LCD screen, and two lenses, the head tracking is a common thing in the market. The software to make OR work was developed by the community, the same community that now seems as if they have been used.

So, forget the hype, even if OR does eventually make it, Sony will kill it because the Sony's Project Morpheus, which is based on the same screen and lenses thing will kill OR -- you can't mess with Sony when it comes to games.

But for me Glyph is the future.

So what are you guys, FB bots? the same types who're paid to click on ads in FB -- BBC panorama.

If the hardware is so common for the Rift, why are you concerned developers wasted or are wasting their time? Seems like they can easily just port their game to whatever else comes out with two lenses and a screen right?

We're developers/enthusiasts of the Rift. We come here to discuss the good and bad that come along with the Rift. You're not giving any relevant information, you just sound like an ad for the Glyph.

How exactly has the FB acquisition stopped devlopers from continuing with coding for VR? it makes no sense.

so the Rift is nothing but a monitor and 2 lenses......or in other words a VR headset, which can be used for any application of VR, quit whingeing a develop stuff.

Shakespeare is just a collection of words in a particular order, does that mean it has no value because it can be described so simply?

Your body is just a collection of protons, neutrons and electrons.

So yes, the Oculus Rift is a screen and 2 lenses and a few other things, and yes that is worth the hype. It will change the world.

lol..I think it's the opposite when it comes to Sony. Sony don't make games (or at least not very often) so Morpheus will rely on third party developers. Most games are multi-format these days so the chances of 'proper' games built from the ground up for Morpheus is pretty unlikely which means we'll get lots of games with VR tacked on that don't work properly.
Oculus Rift has a good headstart and is aiming at the right market, which is everyone - games, education, movies and much more.
I've worked in videogames retail for almost 20 years and see all manner of peripherals come and go and the failures all have one thing in common, lack of game support.
