Digital Combat Simulator (DCS), the DK2 Enabled Flight Sim That Flew under the Radar at E3 2014

http://www.roadtovr.com/e3-2014/

Not much detail, but that it works with DK2 is great news for flight sim fans!

The company partnered with Oculus VR to present the latest version of their hyper-realistic simulator platform on the DK2; an early prototype demonstration allowed viewers to be placed in a selection of realistic recreations of extreme fight planes—their cockpits lovingly recreated and able to be experienced through the VR Headset.

This early glimpse at the new software build showed the promise of what ultra-realistic flight simulation in a VR head-mount offers. Though the demonstration did not have any ground-targets, or air combat, the flight model still put the DK2 through its paces.
But... but... but... I just NEED to know about the Baba! The Baba has me hypmotized!

But D is a later rev than C and 51 is just 15 with the digits reversed.

You don't stand a chance! 😄

Let me guess, you're channeling the Black Knight? 😄

SInce hotas was mentioned, I just saw this the other day and thought it was pretty neat for a cheap hotas setup if you like to do things on the cheap.

You probably have to register to see the pics but from what I gather this guy (built_to_last) hacked up a logitech rumble pad 2 that sits on the floor and runs a cardboard tube up from the one joystick and made some cardboard rudder pedals and cardboard throttle with the pots from the controller. He was more interested in using it for helis but I never really thought how easy it would be to make your own hotas with rudder pedals just by hacking up a cheap gamepad.

Oh, I want in on this game. An F/A-18 Hornet enough for the buy-in?

Sure, your planes are cool, but how many of them can land on a stool?

Yay Harrier!

DCS has a harrier module in the works as far as i know... but right now everyone's looking forwards to the FW-190, so the P51 has something to fight against, and the F-86 sabre, and the mig-21bis

Of course I could always just use the Harrier in X-Plane 10. But I'd prefer a good full recreation of the Harrier with combat abilities.

However X-Plane is still pretty damn cool. Pretty much every airport in the world, the whole planet as heightmaps, even OpenStreetMap data so actual street maps from most major cities are placed in the sim (I've found my street, about 12km out from the brisbane cbd). Or if you get bored, try flying on mars with correct atmosphere (gravity is lower than earth, but the air is so thin that there's almost no lift from conventional wings. You need massively long and light wings to get any lift).

How about a simulator for the Lockheed Martin LEMV?

A hybrid airship that combines the speed of a blimp with the runway requirements of a plane. Umm, wait a sec...

That thing is designed to obey local highway speed laws while concurrently maintaining the job security of airport ground maintenance crews. Everyone wins, unless of course we need it for something.
