Direct mode doesnt allow the DK2 to register as a monitor

This is a major annoyance for me as I want to tweak my display settings via the nvidia/ati control panel (brightness/contrast/ saturation/refresh rate etc), and since the DK2 doesn't register in there as a display at all on direct mode you cant adjust anything unless an app is programmed to allow you to from inside...

I would like to know why this is and if it will continue for future runtimes and CV1.

Extended Mode is gone, and won't return. By using Direct Mode only, there are optimizations that can be done and it's an easier experience for new-comers since they don't have to deal with a strangely split desktop, side-ways screens, windows popping up where you can't see them, etc.

No offense Cyber but you did not address my questions/concerns in the body of the post at all...

I know that extended is gone and I have no problem with that... What I do have a problem with is the fact the direct mode does not register the dk2 as an actual display, so one has no control of the output beyond any native app control (gamma/saturation/refresh rate etc).

Will we ever get this control back?

Yes. That's what I was explaining. Extended Mode is the mode where the OS sees the DK2 as a monitor, and gives you standard controls like changing colors. Direct Mode is the mode where the OS doesn't see the DK2, and the app renders to it directly. So the control won't come back, because Extended Mode won't come back. Does that make sense?

Ah thanks that's much clearer I get you now.

Your first reply kinda sounded like you just read the title and were like 'oh another dummy wondering what happened to extended mode' lol...

Well I've already petitioned Ralf from Vorpx to incorporate these controls for his drivers (he says it will happen but its not priority) and I may petition the people doing Virtual Desktop to do it also.

But with the higher refresh rate of the CV1 I bet that alot of my problems with brightness, contrast and saturation will be solved anyway.
