Do the Touch controllers turn off automatically when put back in their box?

Or is there a way to turn them off. Because if they're on all this time that I'm not even using the rift, they will use alll the battery power.    So how does it work?

They turn off. I guess they figure out that You did'nt use them for a special  time the shut down. You can even verify the state, if you put them aside the enter standby. It's like a remote control, it's also not on day and night.

Actually, touch controllers turn off the second you unplug your oculus. If you keep your oculus plugged in, the touch controllers will go on stand by and will eventually turn off.

Yes, the controllers will go to sleep when not in use.

I assume you mean when you unplug your Rift.  But how would you know if they've turned off?

There's no "On" light on the controllers and if you've unplugged the Rift then it won't be able to relay the controller state to your PC.

“Sleep” is NOT the same as off cyber.

I have only gone through two sets of batteries since getting my Touch Controllers in Feb of 2017, and have never unplugged my Rift. I would say they definitely sleep and turn off on their own.

If you plan on storing the controllers back in the box for any length of time over a day - I'd take the batteries out.

I have had my Rift since Jan. 25 2018 - I use a pair of energizer rechargeable batteries, I have had to do two charge cycles in that time - and always have a spare set ready so there is no downtime.

I wouldn't bother taking the battery out.  They probably use like a few milliamp hours per day when asleep,  I think I recharged mine about 3 months ago.  Occasional use, 90 days sitting: still displaying fully charged in Home.

I have had batteries die and kill TV remotes that I haven't used in a long time - it has happened a few times (battery leaks into the remote), and also to an electric Elvis poster I had bought.

Luckily the poster still works and is just awesome (in multiple-screen).
