Does the Nvidia Control Panel work in CV1?

Does the Nvidia Control Panel work in CV1? I don't ever think it made a difference in DK2, did it? I know when I used to mess around with thing like aliasing etc, it didn't do anything in DK2.

No, I tried to fix god rays by changing brightness in Nvida cp and it only affected the monitor.

Why can't they get Nvidia Control Panel working on the Rift screen? Surely, it would make a difference if we could adjust things In the there wouldn't it? What's the reason for it not working in CV1 or DK2?

This is from the NVIDIA website

With Direct Mode, the NVIDIA driver treats VR headsets as head mounted displays accessible only to VR applications, rather than a normal Windows monitor that your desktop shows up on, providing better plug and play support and compatibility for the VR headset.

Oculus Rift doesn't register as a DEVICE ... the graphics card outputs the video directly into the headset and bypasses OS and other hardware

That and other few tricks lets the VR headsets squeeze extra juice out of your card

@LZoltowski - So does that mean we couldn't even add things like aliasing if the Devs placed it in the games settings?

@lovethis From what I understand it is a way to prevent people from tinkering too much themselves and break the experience by veering off the recommended settings. Only in game settings will work and from what I have seen .. this is going to be more of a CONSOLE experience for VR games, where tinkering is much more limited. I see both sides of the argument, from one side ... Trust the developers and people who know what they are doing to make sure you dont get motion sick etc. Mind you it IS a bit annoying for techie people like me ... a bit like Apple vs Android

This is why they set the recommended spec to: GPU Nvidia GTX 970 - so that developers have a base line to work with ... so that all oculus rift store games are developed with base spec in mind (a bit like console game development) and will work in top visual fidelity at that marker. People with superior cards wont notice much of an improvement in graphics inside of VR games for a long while I think, not until OCULUS sees that most of their connected users have upgraded.

this doesn't apply to third party non oculus approved apps ... having a beefier GPU will most definitely be useful for non optimised games or games that were either just converted .. or one of the third party drivers was used like http://www.vorpx.com/

I can see where they are coming from now you've explained it. Thanks!
