Don't close Oculus Rooms until Horizon is out! (Mini petition)

I'm dumbfounded by decision to close Oculus Room's on October 25 when Facebook Horizons is not out until sometime in 2020 (an that only as beta).
So we're not even talking about cannibalizing here but just shutting off certain features prematurely. Wait at least until Horizon if officially available.

I know most people here don't use Go but for those that do it's an easy way to connect with people you know (often outside of VR like friends and family) in a easy manner via friends list etc. Go loses a lot of it's social functionality without ofering any software alternatives..

Personally I didn't use Rooms all that much but was contemplating getting a second hand Go for my family member, thinking we could then chat, browse photos and play simple games within Rooms. No that no longer seems like an option.

P. S I just hope it's not a deliberate move designed to push GO users toward the higher-end Quest.. otherwise why not remove Netflix and YouTube VR, that would definitely make people move over to Quest in no time 😜 😜

This move is the most ridiculous I’ve seen from a tech company in my life!  My primary use for the Oculus GO was Rooms!  I even gifted a new headset to a friend just for Rooms.  “Just in time for the Holidays, Facebook and Oculus team up to ruin the GO”.   Pointless, reckless, short-sighted, arrogance.  Still can’t believe it.  I own a Quest as well, and am seriously considering canning both, as this portends a grim future for this company.  Unbelievably disappointing.  And so, so incredibly expected from a large company.  Give them access to your life’s information in exchange for a brief positive experience and then a profoundly negative one.

There's definitely some bad timing with this!   I purchased 4 oculus gos during the holidays not knowing (what I believe to be) their main app would be discontinued.  Don't get me wrong, we'll continue to use them until Horizon releases but let's be honest there's not much Altspace has to offer and some of the games leave much to be desired.  So yes I would very much like to have the app restored until horizon releases!

I totally agree with Przecinek, it´s absurd that Oculus shut down Oculus Rooms leaving the users without any other cross-platform social app where they can actually interact. I hope at this point that Horizon will arrive very soon, otherwise many people might change their mind as I have a lot of friends who wanted to buy a headset especially because of the social interaction possibility.

I hope we get the board games back with Horizons.  I really enjoyed playing 'Monopoly Deal' even if I only played against bot/AI players.

I really miss playing Monopoly, I wish they'd offer that at least as a stand alone.

Two words "VR" "chat"  Far better than what oculus homes were and a bigger community
Since they let us down, the petition/boycott should be not to go in horizon when it comes, in any case the FB autocracy don't care about petitions
