Don't you think the DK2 is quite un-ergonomic?

I've got issues wearing the DK2 for any reasonable period of time. Straight out the box with A lens cups they press against my nose and cheeks, it's insufferable to use. With B cups it's a little bit better but I still have to extend the eye relief to the highest possible setting so that some part of the lens cup doesn't press against my face.
The nose cut out is absolutely horrible and it's incomprehensible how it doesn't come with a nose cushion.

Even with all that the rift feels like a pair of wide view binoculars. And I have yet to find a way to put the thing on so it remains at the sweetspot on it's own. If the sweetspot would be larger most of these issues wouldn't be dramatic, but as it is I can only reach it if I hold it in place with my hands.

I think CV1 has to have drastic changes in terms of ergonomics, perhaps to the extent of a whole new form factor. Oh and yes, for me the DK2 is actually painful to wear, even for a few minutes.

Have you adjusted/loosened the straps?

But this is also to be expected with a development kit. It is a one-size device at the present. You may find you have to mod it a bit to make it work for you.
But... but... but... I just NEED to know about the Baba! The Baba has me hypmotized!

Yes I played around with the straps quite a bit, the best I got so far is extending the top strap to be very long and the side starps to almost the longest level. I also did try to craft a nose cushion out of a piece of sponge with a box cutter, then I don't get the sharp edge of the plastic pressing against my nose but then it presses my nostrils together which is also very uncomfortable.

For me the bottom part of the mask is simply too short, if I rotate the HMD to point upwards slightly by hand it feels alright and the picture quality improves very much. Hopefully the consumer version will make that adjustable.
I'm a tall, skinny dude with a long and narrow face, people with more meat on their bones will probably do better.

Stupid Question*

Did you try adjusting the separation from the lenses from your face? It is on the side of the Rift and might help with the lenses being squished up against your face.

Agree, that question is stupid, of course I adjusted eye relief and I have to use the furthest setting with B lens cups and they still press against the nose. With A lens cups there is no setting which is remotely comfortable as yet.

Are you Gru? You're Gru aren't you, you can tell us!

You Might be Gru

Actually, what it is called is a dorsal hump, or "roman nose" and it's barely noticeable. A large portion of the population has them.

Perhaps not as "barely noticeable" as you might imply. I can literally place my index finger in between my nose and the nearest piece of plastic on the Rift DK2.

There's bound to be a way to adjust the Rift you haven't tried.

Yea there is an edge on the nose-piece that basically presses into the bridge of my nose and makes me look like a freak if I wear the Rift for any length of time..

Just hope for the carbon design group to solve this problem for CV1.
