Don't you think the DK2 is quite un-ergonomic?

I've got issues wearing the DK2 for any reasonable period of time. Straight out the box with A lens cups they press against my nose and cheeks, it's insufferable to use. With B cups it's a little bit better but I still have to extend the eye relief to the highest possible setting so that some part of the lens cup doesn't press against my face.
The nose cut out is absolutely horrible and it's incomprehensible how it doesn't come with a nose cushion.

Even with all that the rift feels like a pair of wide view binoculars. And I have yet to find a way to put the thing on so it remains at the sweetspot on it's own. If the sweetspot would be larger most of these issues wouldn't be dramatic, but as it is I can only reach it if I hold it in place with my hands.

I think CV1 has to have drastic changes in terms of ergonomics, perhaps to the extent of a whole new form factor. Oh and yes, for me the DK2 is actually painful to wear, even for a few minutes.

No, I don't think it's overly un-ergonomic and actually find it very comfortable considering it's only a dev kit. I guess I have an 'average' face as the nose hole plastic doesn't touch my nose at all and the rift sits on my face well.

The only real minor annoyances for me would be the general on/offness when you are in and out a lot (dev-ing), vs some kind of flip up/down hard head mount which I'd much prefer if they could also keep weight down. And the weight of the device when swinging your head (more the depth I guess) as you can feel that inertia of it a little, nothing too bad though.

I guess they'll have to think of an even more universal/adjustable design for CV1. No easy task I'm sure.

I don't find the weight of it too distracting or even really noticeable while I am looking at a demo. I've adjusted both straps to hold it snugly to my face and set the eye relief to a position where my eyes are no longer touching the lenses (lens B was much better for this for some reason.) For a dev kit it's pretty great.

My only issue is the same one just mentioned - strapping in on and removing it every time I need to make a context switch between working on my desktop and using the Rift. What's worse is all the switching about of which monitor is going to be the primary display - I have 3 already and sometimes have my TV switched on and connected via HDMI - giving me 5 monitors to deal with when using the Rift.

I'd kill for a simple desktop replacement that works on the Rift display. Nothing fancy - just enough functionality so I don't need to take the Rift off every time I want to switch demo or accidentally click on another screen, losing focus from running program.

If I paid for it as a consumer product, yes I would think it was poorly designed, a bit tacky and not comfortable enough.
As a development kit though, it's pretty good. Interested to see what they come up with for CV1.

It's only when you shake/switch direction of head movement, fast. Which may be something you need in gameplay in the future. Not a deal breaker by any means and will obviously be better in CV1.

Just received my DK2 today and i have to agree, the fit is somewhat unergonomic, especially this small ledge pressing right onto my nose.
Think i have to mod this with some additional rubber, or get a nosejob.

I find it a lot more comfortable than I ever expected from such a hurkin' goggle-helmet.

Oculus did purchase an entire reknowned design firm and I suspect the reason for this was to design something a lot more wearable for a consumer model.

I find it to be more uncomfortable than DK1.

DK2 is heavier than DK1.
DK2 puts it's weight more down on my nose than DK1.
It also presses into my nose leaving a mark.

I do miss the screen brightness/contrast configurations, I wish that you could control the brightness of the screen because not always you want the brightest settings.

Perhaps not as "barely noticeable" as you might imply. I can literally place my index finger in between my nose and the nearest piece of plastic on the Rift DK2.

There's bound to be a way to adjust the Rift you haven't tried.

That's what I'm thinking. I've got a monster beak and the rift never touches it when I adjust everything right. If it does touch it, it's only just and doesn't press against it.
