Facebook is planning to eventually rebrand the Oculus Rift experience, redesigning the hardware and updating it with "a Facebook interface and logo."

Well, technically it says "reportedly". That's still accurate..the story is incorrect, but it's still a report heh.

I hope Oculus won't be re branded. Oculus should be recognized as the VR re ignition brand and the open indie friendly company. Facebook are not focused on the same things as Oculus so I hope Palmer can stay on the Oculus route.

(No, I'm not against the Facebook sellout since the possibilities for Oculus hardware get huge. But again they have to stay open and indie friendly!)

Why does all this Re-branding fear remind me of Obama and the birth certificate. The guy could photocopy his birth certificate and mail it to every voter and still there would be those yelling "NO IT'S A LIE!"
In this case even when told there will be no re-branding everyone is all "NO IT'S A LIE!!"
Fire and brimstone coming down from the sky! Rivers and seas boiling! Forty years of darkness! Earthquakes, volcanoes! The dead rising from the grave! Facebook buying the Oculus Rift! Human sacrifice! Dogs and cats, living together! Mass hysteria!

This company will go in a new direction, so yes i say sell out. VR just got delayed and turned into a social networks "toy" nothing more. this will probably even prevent the consumer version of a true oculus from ever being released. and before you say things you dont understand maybe you should look into facebooks plans for the Oculus. so again i say SELL OUT. poor kid who made the Oculus probably hates this as much as we do.

Palmer Luckey, the "kid" you are talking about, has been on reddit responding to all of the people that are coming to unfounded conclusions. As well, you can be certain that John Carmack would definitely be vocal if he didn't agree with the decision. If you can't trust a guy that has changed the gaming industry several times to have some form of foresight, you should possibly reconsider your opinion instead of using baseless cynicism and fear mongering when there is absolutely no evidence toward that fact.
