Feature request. Custom shortcuts in oculus home

So this is one feature I guess most of us have asked for over the passed year or so and I've always assumed it was coming.

But having played around with changing shortcuts to games and the artwork I can honestly say there is zero reason why this isn't a standard feature in home.

I doubt there is a single person that would not like this feature. Hell I'd even go as far as to say that EVERYONE wants this feature.

It will be a good thing for oculus as it will keep people in the store front and oculus will get more sales because of it. But there are still things people want to launch that isn't in home.

So cmon, @cybereality what's the official stand point on this?

Can we get this added?
Is it likely to be added at any point?
Is there a reason it doesn't already exist?

By all means let us create the detail for the apps and do the heavy lifting in regards to creating relevant images and such. But let's just have the feature.

As for everyone else, what say you?

I was only thinking about this earlier today as I have been using your shortcut for Raw Data a lot, would be nice to have an official way of adding non oculus games to your library

On a side note I'm gonna add a hell of a lot more, the lab for one is a must as I use that quite frequent and Google earth, just cos.

It would be nice for people to see the name of the app I'm running instead of discover vr or what have ya.

I was going to ask, if for instance I start Raw Data using your shortcut does that open the game in oculus vr mode, but if i was to open the steam vr shortcut and select a game say Final Approach that would be in the steam vr mode.

Well, I had a play with the lab last night and it auto loads steam vr so it's all good. The trick is finding the right executable or loading it via steam id. I prefer the executable route though cos you get the correct load sequence and all the artwork.
If official support doesn't pan out I'm going to build an app where you choose the game to replace, choose the game you want to load and artwork and have it do the work for you.
It's just time more than anything  (and I'm extremely lazy lol)
Also offer did format my pc last night so it's currently out of action while it downloads 2tb of steam games im never gonna play haha.

Just realised I never answered your question, if it has direct rift compatibility it loads that (if you use method 1) if it doesn't then it loads steam vr first but the game instantly.

I to would like this, if I could get at the few games I have on steam through Oculus home it would be nice.

well, with the absence of rallying support from other members (couch @Zenbane, cough @Techy111, and everyone else) looks like i'll have to do more leg work 😕
