Feral Rites is awful

I purchased it because it was less than $10 on sale, and that should have been a red flag already, because it was released a couple of days ago, so why is already in sale and so cheap? Oh well, since I have no games beside Project Cars and Chronos (both very good), I though to add this one, since it was cheap.
Well, the game is just plain awful.
First of all, why is this game in VR? It doesn't add ANYTHING to it. I guess if it wasn't in VR it couldn't have been published, because no one would want to play it on a regular PC.
The story is boring and banal, the characters are uninteresting and you can only choose one character, male or female, but it looks the same. There is a long, boring, and not skippable intro where you can't do anything but watch and wait. The first tutorial level is also long and boring, it will take you 30 minutes of boredom to finally start the actual game... And the first thing you have to do is... Breaking stupid pots and vases... Why? To get point to upgrade your boring character. But why should you upgrade when you haven't  even start to fight?! The Upgrade menus are all flickering and hard to read what the upgrade does. And let's talk about combat, supposedly the core of the game. Why is your boring human form, more "fun" to do combat with, rather than your beast form? In you beast form you can't even block, or do combos. Also it doesn't even feel that the characters becomes more powerful, it feels the same as you fight in human form or beast form. You can also turn into a tiger, that allows you to move faster, since the "run" is quite slow, but the animations of the tiger are horrible. The fight mechanics probably expands later in the game, but I don't know if I will want to play it again.
I really wish there was a refund policy like Steam, because I feel I've wasted those $10.

Do yourself a favor, don't buy this game.

MR Wilde is correct, in my opinion I picked this up at the new cheaper price, and played an hour and a half last night.
One thought kept popping into my head this is bloody awful, if I'd brought it at full price i would have been absolutely livid, I can fully understand why a 6 game compensation deal or refund was put together, the game is worth £3:99 at most, just because a game is long doesn't automatically mean it's worth full pricing if it's crap with play mechanics from 1988.

That's ok that your struggling, you see in life it goes like this one man goes to a burger joint and after eating a burger that costs £3 exclaims that was the best burger I've ever eaten in my life.
I go there and have the exact same burger and think that's the worst burger I ate in my life it's so rubbish it should be no more then 25p.
See it's simple.
If your happy with it then great, I don't know you maybe your like 12yrs old and new to gaming, but I personally have been gaming for like 40yrs I know a stinker when I play one, all that said respect to oculus studio and Insomniac they made it right, I love my rift and vr my only gripe has ever been pricing on the games.
The last game I spent £40 on was the witcher 3 which I put hundreds of hours into and felt was a triple A game which delivered value for money, most vr games are mediocre and last about 5 hours which in my book is a rip off.

He didnt even answer the question, he just repeated himself only using the word "burger" instead of "game."

I think I saw a debate like that once on Sesame Street.

The Combat in Feral Rites is almost identical to the combat mechanics in Batman: Arkham Asylum, and just as responsive and satisfying, and THAT game's reviews scores are "Overwhelmingly Positive" on Steam.

IE, anyone calling Feral Rites' combat "terrible" or "boring" doesn't have ANY clue what they're talking about. Either they've never played a 3D brawler before, or they're getting their butts kicked by enemies in the first level and blaming the game for it.  Might I suggest the "Easy" difficulty?

I also LOVE how the people complaining about the game's story are the ones who have only seen the opening cutscene and nothing else.  On top of that, they admit that they were trying in vain to skip over the story parts altogether.   Sounds like they're mad that there even IS a story... a common complaint from the kind of impatient gamers who only try games for an hour before rage-quitting them.

Don't even get me started on that toxic "Why is this even a VR game" mentality, that unrealistic notion that every single game released on Oculus Home has some obligation to be designed entirely around some kind of VR-exclusive gimmick and not be like any kind of traditional video game whatsoever.

It's hard being the voice of reason when you're surrounded by unreasonable people.

It's in VR because your view allows you to look around at the rather pretty environments. VR gives each rock, mountain, tree a sense of scale you don't get in 2D. Also the larger enemies can be quite intimitating up close and when you execute them it's pretty satisfying.

The story is boring and banal, the characters are uninteresting and you can only choose one character, male or female, but it looks the same.

You can upgrade and change the look of either of the characters and their beast forms. The game is designed so you swap male or female at will seeing as upgrades are shared between both. It's merely cosmetic although both are obviously voiced by different actors. The story could be better though as could be the game's lore.

There is a long, boring, and not skippable intro where you can't do anything but watch and wait. The first tutorial level is also long and boring, it will take you 30 minutes of boredom to finally start the actual game...

Just like many other games. Try having some patience as they aren't that long in the grand scheme of things. It's a shame the story parts can't be skipped so that people who do want to ignore it can do so.

And the first thing you have to do is... Breaking stupid pots and vases... Why? To get point to upgrade your boring character. But why should you upgrade when you haven't  even start to fight?!

Breaking pots etc is purely optional. Using the jaguar form as you free-roam makes it light work and second nature.

The Upgrade menus are all flickering and hard to read what the upgrade does. And let's talk about combat, supposedly the core of the game. Why is your boring human form, more "fun" to do combat with, rather than your beast form?

Because you're not supposed to just fight in beast form. The idea is to switch between the two on the fly and if you experimented a little you would see each form has it's pros and cons.

In you beast form you can't even block, or do combos.

Yes you can.

Also it doesn't even feel that the characters becomes more powerful, it feels the same as you fight in human form or beast form.

You can upgrade each form independently of each other with the gold you earn from doing good combos and opening chests etc.

You can also turn into a tiger, that allows you to move faster, since the "run" is quite slow, but the animations of the tiger are horrible.

They are tank like and not meant for tight navigation, they could be better.  I believe it's a Jaguar, not a tiger and is meant for moving quickly across each area. More precise control you need to swap back to human form.

Obviously the game isn't for you but at least have some actual skill and understanding of the game before telling others it's not worthy of their time or money then you would have some more credibility. This is another Mr Wilde thread that's full of negative Nancy crap. Aside from the gloating Touch controllers thread you made all you seem to do is moan...moan...moan. You sound very entitled fella and it's not pleasant.
