Feral rites reviews.

Feral rites plays like chronos which I loved. But so far from what I read on the reviews it appears to be a no chronos quality game. It is not worth the 49.99 price. It's not a bad game. It's just mediocre (from what I read) I would not pay more than 29.00 if that much. By the time the price comes down though touch will be here and there will be much better games that I will support.

$79.99 on the Aussie Oculus store - just another total rip-off to sway aussies away from VR.

And btw the correct aussie price converted from US $ should be around $70 including local tax - however the Oculus invoice when you buy a game here in Oz always says $0 zero tax anyway so they just gouge an extra ten bucks or so off us for being Aussies - totally crap way to do business.

Chronos is an RPG, Feral Rites is a Adventure-Brawler. There is a huge difference that people should try to figure out first.

This thread doesn't give a real review so here is something useful,

"So what does VR add to a decidedly traditional game like Feral Rites? A few things actually, the most important being the grandiosity of seeing it all in virtual reality.

The game’s Aztec-inspired scenery is vast and megalithic, something
only a VR headset can correctly translate to the viewer. If you can
resist using the ‘spirit sense’ ability and really take your time,
you’ll be able to appreciate some of the most well-made environments
currently available to VR headsets. Perched over a seemingly infinite
drop, you can really get the sense of vertigo, even if you’re an
invisible set of eyeballs in the sky.

I can’t always play VR games for long, but this time I had a full day to
beat it from beginning to end. Topping out at 10 hours for me
personally,
I can attest that Feral Rites is just as comfortable as you would expect it to be.

Feral Rites proves to be a fairly fun, well-balanced brawler
that offers around 10 hours of gameplay if you follow the story alone.
Collectibles are everywhere, giving you extra incentive to explore the
entire island, which is a massive and beautiful place worth more than a
cursory glance."

I quoted some of the "pro's" but as with all things, there are "con's" as well which can be read on the full review:

I think it may be worth playing for me but it doent seem like it's worth 49.99. For me its overpriced. If you enjoyed it and it was worth it to you that's the important thing.

At 9.99 it should be worth it, if only to try it and make SURE you don't like it. On top of that 9.99 is not much to ask for, you better believe that 10 bucks from every single OH user won't even come close to making them break even, it's worth it if only to support vr itself.

This aside, I wonder how many people are going to be mad for getting feral rights when it came out for 50$. When not even 7 days later it's down to 1/5th the price.

@OpticKing I got it at the $49.99 price tag, and could not be happier. I just opened up an email that informed me that Oculus and Insomniac Games saw that so many felt the price was too high and so those of us who purchased it at $49.99 just got the option to get a full refund (first time I've ever even heard of Oculus doing this) or to keep the game, along with six new games added to our accounts to soften the blow (which I never actually even complained about lol). The six games added to our accounts for free are: AirMech Command, Damaged Core, Defense Grid 2: Enhanced VR Edition, Chronos, Edge of Nowhere and The Climb. (Is this worth the $49.99 everyone!?) I already had 4/6 of these titles, but to see such an action is amazing, and I literally just got Feral Rites for a price that was only $10 over what I'd been expecting the whole time anyways, along with The Climb and AirMech Command for free, which are both games I planned on getting eventually. It's things like this that make it so confusing for me when I see the hate for Oculus and its staff; it is my opinion that we've got the best VR available and the company has always been fast, helpful and just as passionate from my perspective.

@cero490I just heard about that, and wiw color me jelly. I literally want all of those. (just got chronos in sale)
Have to give it up to insomniac, stuff like this is what builds customer loyalty and makes everyone happy, more devs should consider these type of actions, if only to market their product to more people for word of mouth.

@OpticKing I've always been a fan of Insomniac Games, and while Oculus is still new-ish (officially at least), I have to say I've nothing but great experiences here as well. To see something like this just shows how amazing and caring people can be. I'm not the only one who was fine with the original price tag and thought it was worth it, but this was an amazing act on their part and certainly a nice surprise! I'm sure this move will help others realize how great a company they are, both of them really.

Well for 8 quid it would be rude not to lol

Major props to both Insomniac and Oculus for giving those games out for free to those that paid the full price.
