First time HOTAS, which one?

Alrighty folks, as there are a few flying sims out there I thought I should probably add one of these to my setup. After playing a driving sim with a steering wheel and VR headset there is no going back to controller, so I presume a hotas will be similar for flying sims.

Ive never used one before and was wondering if would worth getting a cheaper one to start with to see how it feels or just get a decent one straight away. Im not a major flight sim player but id like to keep trying them as they are great in VR.

Ive picked out these 3 to see what your thoughts are...

Thrustmaster T-Flight £32.99 Would this give me enough of a feel to see if its worth putting in another £100-200?

Saitek X52 Pro £129.99 Looks solid and the middle ground of the two

Saitek X56 Rhino £219.99 Looks an absolute beast but is it aimed more at serious flight simmers? (Released in about a week)

Any advice?

I've heard the CH throttle and flight stick are some of the best.    They are kind of ugly, and don't have flashing lights, LCD displays, or little chrome switches.  But for VR, that shouldn't matter too much.  Right?  Anyway, I was thinking of going with these.

They're the ones I have and they're awesome. Get the pedals if you can too as they make it complete.
Though you are more than slightly incoherent, I agree with you Madam,

Them prices look very good compared to the UK, and your totally right substance over style especially when you wont see them once you are in VR

the quality of the CH products is pretty good. However if you're looking in that budget range I would still take the Warthog over that set, probably partially personal preference but it gives me more options and a nice premium feel (being all metal)

Since both selections are lacking rudder pedals you would have to get those separate anyway.

The warthog has the added advantage of being easily and properly mounted on a rig or in a simpit, if you're into that kind of thing.

There are a lot of buttons, but it won't take long before you press the right button without even thinking about it.  You can then concentrate more on what's going on around you.

If you drive, it's exactly the same.  You will remember how much stuff there seemed to be to do, but when you've driven a few thousand miles, you don't need to think about the mechanics of driving, just what the other idiots on the road are doing.  😉

Ive had a couple of Thrustmaster T.Flights since I started playing Elite and would recommend them as a starter HOTAS without hesitation.

I recently upgraded to the CH Pro gear and it's worth every penny, believe the hype, it's true.

I have the x52Pro but, the drivers cause my PC to crash every time I try to use it; it seems the drivers don't install properly - anyone have any experience with this?
