I know this is been asked a million times on the internet, maybe two million
I'm new to VR, just set Oculus Rift s up yesterday.
I wasn't expecting a 4K image, or medium to high images/graphis. But this can't be how it should look. When I see videos of in gameplay broadcast through just one lens, it looks ten times better than what I am experiencing.
I know this will end up being a wall of text. For any of you that are bored, would so appreciate any help on this. I really don't want to return this.
Everything is fine and quite impressive if it is 2 ft in front, and looking directly at what's close to me. Text is sharp, beautiful detail. All images past that, are blurry'ish, halo of white and distorted color on edges of objects. Basically like turning game graphics on the lowest settings of a game from 2008. heh. Similar to those clear old school 3D glasses that would give everything a bit of rainbow effect. If that makes sense.
I know there are a lot of tweaks that can be made within games, supersampling, lowering draw distance, enabling /disabling settings etc etc.
But to eliminate you guys from getting too deep into game settings, things look like crap right out of the box with just running and being in the rift. The setup tutorial with the robot, and tutorials once you get started, placing objects in home grabbing them etc etc. Right from the get-go terrible. It must be about lenses and focus.
Things I have done.
The Oculus headset and software.
Physical adjustments of the headset. Up and down, in and out. General movement to find the sweet spot for both eyes.
Entered my correct pupil distance, IPD.
Oculus graphics settings set to prioritize quality. ( I keep coming across this talk of a setting that can calibrate the focus of the lenses, referencing some green cross and lines to do so, but I cannot find that setting anywhere within Oculus settings.)
God I know this was long-winded, but so difficult to convey. Basically, this has to be focused related and would so much love to see this stuff better.
Want this to work so bad, thank you very much for a replies in advance.
