Original kickstarter backers, check your email. Seems we are getting a free special Kickstarter edition of the new Rift!

I'm in the same boat. I sent a message via Kickstarter, and after a couple of days got a reply suggesting that I open a ticket on https://support.oculus.com (though it didn't clarify whether or not there was actually a problem).

I did so immediately, but have yet to get a response (except for a general 'sorry we're busy processing all the tickets, thanks for your patience' message sent to all open tickets yesterday.

I too would have thought that they could determine the VAT based on delivery region, so made the same assumptions about the field. At least I'm not the only one!

As soon as they get round to mine, I'll post back with an update, though I guess you might want to do the same in the meantime if the queue is going to keep growing, just in case action is necessary! 🙂

I left the field blank as well.
Maybe if the VAT isn't paid it will just be charged to us as an import charge?

I think we still hav to pay tax for the occulus since gits are not excluded from Tax

Retail Price for Germany is 699 euro
19% import turnover tax is 132 euro
4,7% custums is 33 euro

So is think we still have to pay 165 euro to get the 'free' CV1 😞

I for one am happy to pay any extra charges since I was prepared to pay the full price for a CK1 before the announcement meant I didn't have to.

I was un-plugged from basically everything in those days. Last time I visited mtbs3d before the kickstarter, Palmer and others were talking about possible designs for DIY high FOV VR headsets, but not much else. When I came back to mtbs3d there was a lot of excitement on the forums, Palmer was a heroe and the super-successful kickstarter was over. I was very happy to see that finally someone decided to go ahead and do more than talking about designs.

Now I'm left wondering if I would have backed the kickstarter was I aware of it at the time. No way to know it now.

A special version of the CV1 that is the one being given to the Kickstarter backers as a freebie. No one knows what's so special about it, but I suspect it might just be some branding.

Kickstarters are in the first to ship batch on March 28th. Also our place in line is save for touch too. So we are getting the royal treatment.
