OCULUS VR + TOUCH “RAK” GIVEAWAY

I am giving away one brand new Oculus VR + Touch + Extended Warranty via direct
ship from Amazon.  This is a legitimate
personal contest and I have cleared it with Oculus before posting.

I am not an Oculus employee and Oculus is not financially
involved with this in any way.  I am
solely responsible.  I am not rich,  I just enjoy doing stuff like this from time
to time.  I am posting the rules first
and then the contest below.  If you don’t
read the rules or follow the entry requirements, then your entry(ies) won’t
count.  My money, my contest, my
rules!  (What a bitch, right?)

If you want to keep track of which entries are valid, I will be using the "awesome" tag for valid entries.  I may "like" or "lol" other entries, but only the "awesome" will tag an entry as valid based on the rules.  Other people using awesome is cool but only mine denotes that your entry is in the running.  Remember, it's not a contest for who is kindest; all valid entries have an equal chance.

Rules:

1)     
Entries must follow the instructions below.  If they do not, they won’t count.

2)     
All users are free to PM me, but PMs that
attempt to persuade me to choose their entry will not work.  If I could afford to buy the whole world an
Oculus, I would, but I can’t and this is not a charity so please PLEASE don’t
send me messages about how you deserve the prize because you’re poor or some
other sad story.  I will feel bad for you
and probably cry, but it won’t influence the outcome.

3)     
You may enter more than once but each entry must
uniquely follow the rules.  Intentional
duplication will invalidate all entries.

4)     
Only entries posted publicly in this thread
count.

5)     
Do NOT send me personal info.  Neither I, nor anyone else (nobody else is
involved with this) will ask for any personal information.  If anyone messages you asking for it, do NOT
give it, it’s not me.

6)     
The winner will need to provide a name and
shipping address, but do not do so unless I have notified you by PM AND posted
that you won in the thread.  If it’s not
in the thread that you won and didn’t come from my account, ignore and report
it.

7)     
If you think this is a fraud/farce I have done
this before when Black Desert Online came out.

The contest will end on April 1.  Winner will be announced by April 4.

The contest will be extended if necessary until
the required number of entries is reached.

The prize and shipping within the USA have no
charge and no strings attached.  If you
win and live outside the USA you will have to pay for shipping.  Sorry!

12)  
The winner will be chosen at random from proper
entries.  If you do not win I hope you will
at least have had fun participating.

13)  
The prize is an Oculus Rift + Touch.  Do not ask me to substitute prizes or
cash.  If you don’t want the prize you
are free to sell it or give it as a gift.

14)  
These rules are subject to addendum if I find I
have left out something important.

15)    All RAK's must be new ones, not what you have done in the past.  Past kindness is awesome but new kindness counts as an entry!

THE CONTEST!

This is an “RAK” Contest. 
RAK = Random Act of Kindness.

In order to enter you will need to do 2 things in each
entry.

1)     
Post a unique Random Act of Kindness.  By unique I mean that if you enter more than
once (you may enter as often as you feel inclined) you must post a different
RAK. 

2)     
If you are a current Oculus owner you must list
your favorite Oculus title or use and why. 
If you are not an Oculus owner you must post why you want an
Oculus.  If you are entering for a
second, third, or greater time post either another title, app, or use OR detail
a fun experience you have had gaming with other Oculus users.

I LOVE random acts of kindness.  I try to do one as often as I can.  Now I realize the fact that you will be
looking to do them sort of removes the “random” part of it, but it’s really the
acts of kindness I get off on (that maybe doesn’t sound right… or does it?).

Random acts of kindness do NOT include things you would
normally do every day.  Helping your brother
with his homework does not count.  Doing
chores does not count.  If it’s something
you would normally do, that’s not what I am after.  Helping someone who wasn’t expecting it is
the idea.  Stopping to help a stranded
motorist… helping an old lady across the street (she had to want to cross the
street… don’t drag some old person kicking and screaming across the street!)…
something that brightens someone else’s day when they really could not have
expected it is what I’m after.

Maybe this contest isn’t really relevant to Oculus, but this
is an awesome community, so we’ll see.

This is a self-serving contest.  I just love seeing people be kind.  I do realize that some posts will be total
BS.  Hopefully they are kept to a

story!

On my way to work this morning I stopped by Wally World and there was a loose cart near someone's car so I brought it to one of the cart stations.

I played LA Noire when it first came out, I enjoyed the game and wanted to like it.  But the controls were awful for the Rift.  It felt like work just trying to move around.  I had to refund it, they just released it last week with official Rift support, when it goes on sale I'll have to get it again.

I had come in to some money following an accident. It wasn't enough for me to scream "IM RICH" form the roof top of a penthouse but it was enough for me to pay off my bills and have a little left over. I planned on using the left over money to buy some things i had wanted for a while. In the wake of the last bad hurricane that wiped out a lot of islands i had been following support groups for the victims. I ended up using most of the left over money and sending supplies to the victims of the hurricanes. I also used a portion of the money to help out a friend who has an autistic daughter and the remaining of the money to help out a friend who lost his bar & grill in the hurricane as well. After all was said and done i had enough money to take my father out for a nice dinner with my family. I was initially saidi couldn't get the things i had been wanting for a while but the joy of helping others in need took me over and i felt great and still do feel great about helping them out.

My girlfriend plays games better than me. Best thing is, she's definitely more "casual" than me, so it's always funny when she's beating me at games Ive spent hours playing in her first few attempts. 

I wish I could lie and say I let her win, at least then I could have had a thousand more RAK entries lol

Entry 2:

I have given my ex-wifes new husband a job.   While this may not seem like much of a "RAK", needless to say, 
having your exwifes husband work for you is interesting.   He was unable to work for a long while, and to be honest, 
would have a lot of trouble finding a job.  

Not only am I letting him work for me, but, as I recently replaced my washer, dryer, and fridge.  I let him help me move the new appliances into place, and instead of paying him for the half days work, I am giving him my old appliances.  

So, instead of 40$ before taxes, hes getting probably a thousand dollars worth of appliances. 

I already have a rift, so if I do win, I'll keep the new one (with warranty) and pass my few month old rift to either my nephew, or a friend who is yet to have VR. 

Recently, I've been playing Arrrowborn, a beta PVP archery game in VR!

Waffle House is right next to my work and the manager comes in randomly and gives us cards for free waffle.  Since waffles have lots of carbs and sugars and are bad for a diet I gave mine to the gas station clerk when I got gas.

I played through the Talos Principle in VR.  Can't say it has anything that makes it stand out in VR other than being in 1st person so it sort of feels like you're walking around.  But there's no special VR only controls or actions.  Some of the puzzles may actually be harder b/c of the lower clarity in the headset makes it hard to see far off items.  The game was great, had a great story, and I already wish they had a Talos Principle 2.  It's like Portal, but more puzzle solving and less platforming.

So I know that mine isn't super amazing or anything, but i figured I'd share it nonetheless.  It happened around 2 weeks ago when I was at the Public Utilities Department in my area.  I was waiting in line for about an hour and when i finally got to the counter, i was a little irritated to find out that I had waited that long just to get a form and have to fill it out and wait in line again.  I ignored it, however, and sat down and filled out the form as efficiently as I could.  After standing in line for another 15 minutes with a renewed patience because regardless of the fact that my girlfriend and I had been denied just about every place we tried to move to because we both have horrible credit, we had finally gotten a place that didn't care about credit.  So I was counting my blessings instead of being upset over something simplistic.  When I got to the counter and I was paying the amount required to have my water turned on at our new place, i overheard the conversation between the lady beside me and the clerk.  The lady had a water bill over over 150 dollars. (In my area, that's like 3 months behind)  She told the lady that she could only pay 80 dollars on it, but the clerk said that it had to be the full amount or it would be shut off because it was so far behind.  The lady whose bill was so high looked absolutely distressed out of her mind.  At first I felt a little embarrassed for her and didn't want to draw attention because I knew if I were in her place, I would've been embarrassed.  I leaned over and handed my card to the clerk and told her to cover the remainder of the amount on me.  The lady looked over at me and she started to tear up a little and said "They told me that God would bless me because I've been taking care of my mother who is on her death bed... I didn't know it was going to be today" and she hugged me.  

I really don't care if you enter me for the "RAK" contest or not, and I debated on not putting this up because I didn't do it to be glorified in any way.  In fact, the only person I've told is my girlfriend because she would see it on the card statement, haha.  Since I haven't shared it elsewhere, though, I thought I would add to it so that people could see how many good people there still are in the world.  I'm really happy to see all these pages of people..

(Just in case I DO win the rift, which I would give to my gf because I already own one, I'll list my favorite game and why)

I guess my favorite Oculus game would have to be Box VR.  I weighed over 320 pounds 2 months ago.  I quit smoking cigs, started eating nothing but healthy food, and drinking nothing but water.  I was having a really hard time figuring out what to replace my cigarette addiction with until after a bunch of research, i found that exercise was a great replacement.  Being over 300 pounds though, I didn't want to go to a gym or any other public workout area because of anxiety and embarrassment.  Box VR solved that problem.  I am now under 275 pounds and i feel great.  I have a ton more energy and Box VR made me so much more active.  My girlfriend has lost weight too, although not as much because as much as she loves Box VR, having a headset with my sweat on it from me using it makes her not want to use it as much as i do, haha!! Admittedly, i really don't blame her.  Box VR allows you to use your own music and really makes you work hard, but its fun so you don't even realize HOW much you're actually working out until you're panting and your muscles burn.  At this moment, that would have to be my favorite use of VR.  It gets you up and moving but does it in a way that helps and isn't just a game.  (obviously though, i love skyrim, fallout 4 with the vive emulator, chronos, robo recall, etc. All the good ones and even some of the small indie ones)

Anyway, kudo's to you all who posted amazing, kind acts and I hope whoever gets the item loves it.   thanks for reading all this and good luck to everyone!  

Edit: I realize that the act of kindness needs to be "new" but i ignored that fact because I didn't really post it to win anyway.  I feel like any act of kindness i did in order to get a reward like a Rift would negate the act in the first place.  So either way, I'm just glad to see how many awesome people have done good things.

Whenever you do get a relationship, make sure it's for the right reason.  Too many people are with someone just because they like their looks, but they're 2 different types of people and in the end it's just a waste of time.
