Genius marketing on htc, sent jack a vive.

This is what's going to lose rift pre-orders. Well known devs and youtubers having a blast on the vive and gushing about how amazing it is. Fanboy or not, this is amazing and it's such a simple tactic. If oculus did the same thing then there wouldn't be doubts. I'm so close to jumping ship it's scary. Even my wife is getting excited about the vive, and it's because there is content all Over YouTube showing it off. What are your thoughts guys?

Sorry I'm on my phone and can't provide a link. Search jacksepticeye on YouTube, should be his latest video.

Hi

does anyone know if Aperture Robot Repair wil lwork on the oculus rift (possibly though steam VR) or is it locked to VIVE as an exclusve? ***

could be a cool demo to show off touch.

*** i really hope there are no exclusives and it will be possible to run all apps on either HMD, even if not "officially" supported.

According to Gaben, no exclusives. Robot Repair will be included with 'The Lab', a free-at-launch collection of mini games developed by Valve that looks like a fun little time waster but nothing with any real substance. You will need Touch controllers but room scale is no longer needed since teleportation was recently included.

Cool thanks... And let's not forget whilst it may be advantage vive for room scale vr it does not mean the rift is incapable of it 🙂
Fiat Coupe, gone. 350Z gone. Dirty nappies, no sleep & practical transport incoming. Thank goodness for VR 🙂

Exactly, I added the room scale bit because I honestly don't know how much space you have. It's a pretty large experience.
Not a Rift fanboi. Not a Vive fanboi. I'm a VR fanboi. Get it straight.

Why would Oculus push to "sell" a product that is sold out for 4-5 months as it is, why is Valve selling so hard pre launch? Why is Vive focused solely on "room scale" when in all likelihood no developer will be taking advantage of such a small segment of their target audience? Many people are being setup for disappointment by HTC one way or the other.

First of all oculus is LOSING customers because of their lack of coverage, strict NDA, and exclusive app store bs. they launch in a week, and no devs can show squat. And HTC and Valve aren't pushing anything, the COMMUNITY and the EQUIPMENT is. And don't forget, the vive can do both room scale and seated, with motion controllers, and it's been proven by hundreds of devs and community members on YouTube. That is why followers of the rift for the past 3 years are walking away with no regrets.

I know something went wrong with the Vive rollout if they don't even have their own forum and have to come over to Oculus. 😛

Or it's a very clever strategy. Don't have a Vive forum and have all those people talk about it at the Oculus one... 😉
