History shows that every time new software or drivers have been released (from most leading hardware and software manufacturers) the servers have ground to a halt and we have been either kicked out half way through the download or its took an eternity to download a couple of meg.

Now the Rift is going to be released later this month as well as SDK1.0 and various pieces of software (not just the included Valkyrie and Lucky) then thousands of people will be 'trying to' downloading it all at once.
This will inevitably lead to frustration and VERY slow downloads.

I am not looking forward to that.

Lets hope I am wrong.

You do know we are in 2016 now don't you? I cannot see Oculus having that problem is this day and age.

I hope that CV1 to comes with a CD, DVD or USB pen drive that has all the drivers and software needed to get the rift up and running.

if Facebook can't load balance the servers enough to support this release then they aren't trying. I could go into several tin foil hat reasons why, but I really hope Facebook didn't shell out the money to buy Oculus because they wanted to fly the product into a volcano.

I cannot remember the last time I had that problem. I would disagree with what you have said.

It still happens quite regularly.
Have you tried to download a popular game lately upon release?
I remember Rainbow 6 Siege taking ages to download upon release. In fact it sometimes takes ages to join a game even now and that's not even a huge release.
