Got rid of the rift

Alderson15
Protege
I bought the rift about 6 weeks ago, played a variety of games on it, got bored of it within 2 weeks.

The technology just isn't there yet, not for the price and hype currently.

Wouldn't recommend buying one.

In terms of quality they're right up there with those games I've mentioned. They're not glorified demos, they're high quality full games.

Completely agree, there is something special about games made specifically for VR, even the quick experiences - as long as the developers and designers invested significant time and resources. Other games that are "epic" outside of VR (Fallout, Skyrim) end up being borelames when VR is stitched on after-the-fact.

Besides... if people are allowed to make shallow, pathetic contributions to a forum
then I see no reason that games can't be given the same amount of
slack. At least with games the consumer has the choice to buy them or not...
on forums, not everyone has a choice to completely avoid shallow, pathetic
postings

i love how some people who live in VR and this forum think it grants them some kind of immunity from petty dumb jokes when their feelings get hurt, and passive agressive posts because theyre scared to directly address others who might enjoy a real life.

its a completely legitimate point because VR is only a different medium through which the "artform" (and i use that term extremely generously) of games is experienced; gsmes made for VR absolutely should face tue same scrutiny that normal games do and by no stretch do they get a "free pass" for being shallow, pathetic games.

And NONE of those games I've listed are shallow and pathetic by any stretch of the imagination.

98% of the VR games on Steam on the other hand are a different kettle of fish altogether.

"shallow and pathetic" is subjective, stop cherry picking and taking things out of context

I like how you try to convince people you "enjoy a real life" even though you've been bragging about escaping real life since 2014:

“I got the DK2 yesterday, and usually I'll smoke for these kinds of occasions, in general I like to play video games high. But I try not to smoke during the workweek“
https://forums.oculus.com/community/discussion/comment/179649#Comment_179649

“i typically have to get real good and stoned before venturing into CV1”
https://forums.oculus.com/community/discussion/comment/556080#Comment_556080

There's two things that a chronic stoner (who struggles to avoid getting high during the work week) can never boast about: enjoying a real life, judging good video games.

When someone saturates their brain that much... then of course most mainstream video games are going to appear dull and boring, or shallow and pathetic. That's like taking a horse tranquilizer and calling all books "a snoozefest"
😄

actually, talk to any reasonable individual (which apparently you do not have a lot of experience with) and most will agree that someone who is older than 40 (which you have stated you are) and is still playing video games most likely have no life.

i dont necessrily agree with that, but most normal people would.

nevermind someone who is older than 40 and so petty they feel the need to passive aggressively attack anyone who disagrees with their stunted, childlike opinions about said videogames and the need to dig up their post history and try to rag on them for smoking pot.

Someone who pollutes their brain so regularly is hardly in a place to know what normal people would say about a 40 year old who games as a hobby. You also don't seem to understand how hobbies work; probably because you took your "getting high" hobby and made it a permanent full-time life choice.

Although I do think that normal people would agree with the assertion that a 40 year old who games has a hobby has a healthier brain than someone under 40 who struggles to avoid getting high during the week.

As for the topic, I do firmly believe that your addiction to getting high (as made clear by your repeated public service announcements) is the primary cause of all your problems on this forum. You complain about games not being stimulating enough... but it takes something extra special to stimulate the mind of a chronic stoner.

Your addiction also explains your constant griping about the FoV of VR. As most normal people understand... stoners like to "veg out." Which means that turning your head a lot sucks. That's the reason you want FOV to be increased: you are struggling to move your head around when you get "good and stoned."

That also explains your anger about all the VR Software available. When you finally manage to get yourself moving, it must be frustrating that all that effort was just for an experience that normal non-drug-reliant people call "fun."

Im actually a fully legal medical marijuana patient with doctor approved usage of cannabis. But of course, youre smarter than those stupid doctors, youve been sharpening your mind playing video games into mid life and living on this forum with 7500 posts in one year.

Right, because when doctors prescribe pain or anxiety medication, they never consider that an addiction may occur. You've been medicating yourself so much that the idea that the world has a problem with pharmaceutical drug addiction must seem a fantasy.
