Gray Screen on PC Oculus App preventing me from completing set up

FieldmarshalQ

I recently bought a Quest 2 and a link cable. Tried installing the Oculus App on my PC, but right after I select a profile picture and press next, it takes me to a gray screen that doesn't change, even after leaving it open for hours. Have tried multiple other fixes - system repair, reinstall, restarting my PC multiple times, but the problem remains the same. Any advice or support from Oculus would be appreciated.

I've read that Oculus are aware of this issue and they're working on a fix for it.

There's a thread somewhere which details a temporary fix which I'm going to try later, so will post back here if I get any success!

I had this problem yesterday and managed to fix it. In this forum there are download files and steps with how to fix it. https://forums.oculusvr.com/t5/PC-VR-Development/Oculus-app-not-working-black-window-rendering/m-p/...

To summarize

1: Download the Rar file and OTI

2: Use OTI to kill Oculus

3: Use winrar to extract the rar files to C:\Program Files\Oculus\Support

4: Use OTI to reboot Oculus

5: And uninstall and reinstall oculus with the OculusSetup.exe files to bring the drivers up to date.

This helped, hope it helps as well.

Thanks for this! Hope this works.

this has been happening for about last 7 days, and no fix so far asper the support team. if you would like a work  around that will get you started. follow below...

  1. You will need to download this file: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1dprJ7QxIzyzb4jZC-H-fQ_sRzOVCFA62/viewI have downloaded it myself, its around 580MB.
  2. Then, use something like Oculus Tray Icon (https://www.reddit.com/r/oculus/comments/5okoju/oculus_tray_tool/) to kill the oculus service.
  3. Then replace the files in your C:\Program Files\Oculus\Support folder with those from the zipped file and voila!
  4. After that, restart oculus app and it should work.
  5. After the full setup process, you might need to uninstall and install it again to have the latest version! But then it should work properly!

EDIT: I have added another mirror for Support.rar, Oculus Tray Tool and USB Deview: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1IPoyK8G2Nm_9o5hc2Ez91Us1WPtt0GAz?usp=sharing
