Additionally,

Oculus Chief Scientist, Michael Abrash, now says he probably undershot his predictions for Gen. 2! This is amazing and exciting news! Source: https://www.reddit.com/r/oculus/comments/8hotqt/michael_abrash_on_his_2016_prediction_that_high/

My prediction that the Rift CV2 will be here in 2020 is likely blown out the water. It is highly likely that it'll be here next year.

I really think the CV2 has to come out next year, particularly when the Go is making the Rift look bad in some respects (e.g. resolution and god rays). Though if they're going to have something awesome in 2020 rather than just great in 2019, it would probably be better to grin and bear it.

If that is the case I would be pleasantly surprised..

CV2 has to come out next year... otherwise they will do their fan-base a disservice when other VR units are being released that would tempt them away...

An enticing new headset is nowhere to be seen. Vive pro is not next gen, and is not priced appropriately; Pimax 8K is too ambitious to be realistic. Oculus Rift is still the overall best headset.

In the near future, I don't foresee any release from competitors that will can truly threaten Oculus Rift. But I am hoping to be surprised. Competition is always good.
